I thought I would simply give two thumbs way up for the snorkusectomy (removing the snorkus air box inside the fender). No drone when driving normal, a nice deep note between 1/4 and full throttle. The sound is totally stellar. Maybe a tiny increase in power, I don't really know if its that much of a gain, but the sound makes it worth it.
Took me about an hour to do, mostly because I couldn't get some of the plastic screws out. Drove around in it after resetting the ECU, no CEL yet. Will keep you updated.

Is there any particular reason you reset the ECU? and what are CELs?

Resetting the ECU will put it back into "learn" mode, which will allow it to correct for the changes a little more readily. CEL is a Check Engine Light.

i didn't gain a thing, didn't expect to, but what a sound! i love it. i get a kick out of it everytime i drive! no cel either.
plus, if you have cruise on it will remind you to shift gears if there's too much strain... you'll hear the noise meaning WOT... and you know that means downshift!
semi-worthless mod on automatics... just trust me on that. you have so much less throttle control so to speak.

I had read that most people who do the snorkus removal get a CEL soon after, so they recommended resetting the ECU right off the bat. Also, I just put a K&N in and the PCV filter, so I changed quite a few things that I thought the computer should get a feeling for the changes.
I think the gain came mostly from the K&N, and I think the PCV filter actually deepens the exhaust note, since it was a little more throaty post PCV, pre-snorkusectomy in the higher RPMs.

How did you use the PVC filter? did you add something to the intake when you took the snorkus out?

The PCV filter goes on the PCV valve. Here's a pic:

Just go to a checkers/kragen/pep boys, etc... and look in the ricer section  I mean, APC section. Its $10 and they come in different colors. Then all you'll need is a rubber cap for the other end of the vacuum line. The rubber boot on the PCV filter doesn't look like it will fit, but it stretches out nicely.

P-W-T -- what year/engine is your legacy? I think my 98 has an EGR so wouldn't that make the PCV mod almost worthless?

Mine's a 96 w/ the 2.2, and luckily has no EGR system. Though, I had discussed in my "would this help" thread about disengaging the EGR system in conjunction with the PCV filter.
Didn't take you guys long to figure out its best to abbreviate my name lol. Anyway, the way I see it, the less non air/fuel stuff going into the combustion chamber the better. I've seen pics of intakes and manifolds and other stuff of cars which have recirculating systems. The carbon and build up and stuff just ain't purty.

Okay, I may sound dumb (again), but what's the point of the PCV filter? It looks like (because its past the MAF) it would give you a more lean mixture. Clue me in, dude.
