View Full Version : Right turn signal blinking quicker than left turn signal

Hey all,

My right turn indicators blink significantly faster than the left turn ones. Yesterday, they blinked REAL quick (like one of the bulbs burned out), so I got out of the car and checked them. The right rear turn signal looked burned out, so I figured I'd stop by a Pep Boys or someplace like that to get a replacement bulb.

A little bit later on that afternoon, the right turn signals returned to blinking significantly quicker than lefts, and the right rear turn signal was blinking again.

The left turn signals might actually be lit up brighter than the right turn signals. When I indicate a right turn, they blink faster, but dimmer. Anyone else had this problem?

voltage drop across the circuit at all? Usually a faster blinker indicates (sic) a burnt out bulb somewhere in the circuit.
This isn't true for brake lights.

Yeah, you've got a turn signal bulb out.

Hmmm, I'm gonna have to go get bulbs for my indicators to see if this fixes the problem. Auto store of choice, anyone? (Pennsylvania area)

It will. And any auto store or store with a decent auto section will do, it's a common bulb.

I go to Advance Auto (they give Firefighter discounts  )

Pennsylvania's a pretty big state, we've got a lot of auto parts stores. :D

Personally, I head to Fisher's most of the time. Advance is usually for nothing more the bulbs and fluids, that they can't screw up.

I would just put your hazards on, and/or your indicator stalk, and walk around the car to make sure they're on before wasting time going to the autoparts store.

Check the condition of the bulbs that aren't lighting up, make sure they're seated correctly.

Checked the turn indicators just now... I think the problem may be the right front indicator (not the rear like I thought).

The two rear indicators have matched brightness. The left front indicator blinks bright, and the right front indicator is dimmer. Probably just need the one bulb, but I think I'll buy two to be safe.

Bought turn signal bulbs, replaced the corner bulb. Erratic blinking gone.

Problem solved. :D
