As for your question, the PhaseII EJ22 was available on Subarus from 99-01 in the Legacy and Impreza.

It made 143HP and 149lb/ft of torque.

My EJ engine info page doesn't have a listing for it unfortunately, but I would guess that the CR was upped to get this extra power.

We had a 99 Outback sport and it was indeed a fun engine, and plenty for daily driving the car. Very nice torque curve, and it would climb RPMs quite well. EJ22 FTW!

thanks!

does it use a maf/map?

how is it compared to the earlier ej22?
i had a first gen FWD and i loved it..

does the phase 2 have DOHC?
what exatly was changed?

how well does it respond to basic mods, like.. k&n cone, and a straight through exhaust?

anyways,
thanks again for any helpful info

Oh, it's pretty much like the PhaseI EJ22, except it has a bit more power.

I would think it has an MAF, but I don't know for sure. the MAP sensor would be in the throttle body, while the MAF would be just post airbox, so you can tell when you look at it.

I'd say it responds to mods like any other N/A subie engine. You're not going to be making a whole lot of power with it, but it's a nice engine, and very sturdy.

Thanks for that link.. i was in the threads of interest and i must of looked over it.. but i cant believe the ebay intake is so wonderful, and the stock muffler is so gay..

id imagine that with an ebay intake, and an aeroturbine the 2.2 would feel alot nicer than a stock setup..

ill be poking around, and thanks alot..

aeroturbine?

Is that brand of muffler?

Because if I hear turbinator, I'm gonna scream

Spintech muffler type design maybe? Anyway, it is a MAF.

lol, not a turbinator

its a muffler, im gonna put one on my mr2 as well. i think they'll be pretty awesome.. its basically straight through so i don't think ill have any restriction problems..

ill more than likely run it the same way i will on my mr2, with an exhaust diverter and a second muffler, or a cat & resonator so i can still pass inspection and so on..

itll basically have a straight pipe all the way out the back at the flip of a switch..

now weather or not the aeroturbine will be worth the money? ill have to wait and see..

but it seems like a solid idea, and im a fan of solid new ideas.. like the MYT engine. (O_O)d
