Knock sensor?

My check engine light came on and I found out it was the knock sensor. Is this common? Easy to put in myself? There is one on ebay for about $70. Any comments would be helpful.

I just did mine this summer. I have little/no mechanical experience. You MUST buy a repair manual for your car first, it'll give you the location of the sensor. It's pretty easy, just get a socket, ratchet, and long extender, and unbolt it. Take the magnetic ring (the sensor) off the bolt, disconnect the wire leads going to the magnet, put the new one on the bolt, Then re-connect the wires and bolt it back on to your engine. You may want to disconnect your battery before doing this, and step on the brakes for a few minutes. It took a few hundred miles for my check engine light to reset, but I didn't do the brakes thing.

I got mine from NAPA, for about 70 bucks. They were the most expensive place, but the only ones with the part in stock by me at the time.

Advance Auto carries them too, around $60 iirc

Basically it's right under the throttlebody, I found that disconnecting the throttle and cruise cables from the TB gave me just enough room to get in there with the socket and extension.

If you have a shopvac handy I'd recommend vacuuming around it before you pull it out, so no debris falls into the threaded hole in the block.

All done. The part was $80 at Auto Zone (only place that had it in stock). Took about 10 minutes to change. Very good idea to vacuum around it before taking it off. Thanks for all your help guys.
