I went to autozone tonight to pickup some plastic fender clip things, I was perusing through stuff to see what I could cobble together for some DIY's. Anyway, looking at the foglights I noticed some coated bulbs right nex to the $40 hella bulbs.

Turns out Auto Zone now carries APC yellow bulbs. The exact name (which is utterly rediculous) is "icy hot gold ion bulbs"

Anyway, normally APC is rice; however, these bulbs were coated, in appearance, identically to my Hella yellowstar headlight bulbs. They cost me $7 a piece, so I bought them.

I will report on their light output tomorrow. I bought them figuring that hella yellowstars from rallylights would cost about $18 after shipping, and these were very similar in appearance. If they work well, it might save some people the headaches, and then you can return them if you want/need. Plus maybe walmart will start carrying them??? I'm not sure if walmart sells APC or not.

Just an FYI.

I needed a foglight bulb a few weeks ago, went to my local advance. All they had were these APC yellow bulbs and the H3 100w's. Since I needed the bulb I got the APC yellow because I though they would be less likely to melt things.

I bought a regular H3 55w bulb to replace it the next time I could. If anybody wants this APC bulb I can ship it to you. Nothing about it impressed me and all the "not steet legal" stuff was not for me.

So the verdict is....

Yes they do suck. Horribly. Not alot of light output and definately not much yellow glow either from the light itself or on the ground either. Returned them today.

So the YellowStars are better?

I am thinking about putting mine in tomorrow, only took 'em 2 weeks+ to get here...

My yellowstar headlights work well, though they look yellow only in off angles (not like lexus fog lights which are yellow looking and projecting). Though their actual light isn't as white or hard on the eyes as my silverstars were.
