i have a 96 legacy outback and recently one of me headlight bulbs has burnt out so i need to replace them....I had the Phillips VisionPlus in there and i wasn't too impressed with the brightness of the low beams, so i guess im wonder if there are any lights out there that you've been liked...I was thinking of going with the blue lights but ive never tried them before and id rather not waste my money on something that really isn't that great...btw sorry if i posted in the wrong section, wasn't sure if it was electrical or body/cosmetics

thanks!!

Hella Optilux XPs.

Real nice white tone to the light, and very good output.

I have PIAA's on the Legacy...it's brighter, but the thing with PIAA's is they tend to hotspot- i.e. you'll find that they'll have a really bright spot right in the center of the beam with a sharp dropoff in brigthness right outside it.

I have had Sylvania Silverstars in the MPV for over 2 years now, most of my driving back in New York was at night so they saw constant use. They're still bright.

For the retail price of PIAA's, they aren't worth it IMO (it's like what, $80? You can get a HD harness made up with some 100w bulbs and outshine anything you can put in your current harness).

Oh yeah DO NOT get any of those "xenon" blue lights on ebay or pepboys; they're junk. Blue light provides less contrast and when in rain or crappy weather you'll have a harder time distinguishing objects with the blue vs. whitish/yellow light.

HID's get away with it because they have such high light output (lumen) they can be whatever color and still burn your retina's out. But the whitish tone is still the best choice for either kind of light IMO.
