I've found some general info on this, but nothing definitive. I might be picking up a set of heated seats out of a 05 WRX, with the switches included. My car didn't come with heated seats, but is there some kind of wiring harness for it in the dash somewhere? in the center console? since they were available on other 97 Legacies I'm assuming some of the wiring is in there already.

The switches for the heated seats in my 97 Outbacks in in the center console. They're in the sloped portion of the console between the parking brake and the armrest. It wouldn't suprise me one bit if you car is completely wired for it, it'd be easier for Subaru to make all the wiring harnesses the same for a given year, and just plug in the stuff that's actually used on a particular trim level/vehicle.

Out of curiosity, how much are you paying for the seats? And are there any more??? I haven't had much luck thus far, at least online, with Rochester area junkyards.

well I'm probably not going to get them. I've seen them on NASIOC for 300-400, but the seller is asking more than that, and I don't need brand new seats for my 9 year old mud machine. :-?

scratch that, I got the seller to come down on the price, I'm picking them up tomorrow

I'll take pics of the install for reference.

Well I picked up the seats today and installed them. No wiring done yet, I haven't even pulled my console apart to look for it. That's a project for another day.

Here's a quick preview, crappy pic but you get the idea. Both seats are installed now, but here you can see the before/after.

Next I have to deal with this.

I paid around 400 for everything, which seemed fair based on what I've seen them sell for on NASIOC. Seats, brackets, switches, and half the chassis wiring harness. I already had a buyer for my stock seats, so that helped me

I'll have to do some more digging.

haven't worked on this in a while since it's been over 50 degrees here for days and days. I got the wiring harness stripped down to only the connectors that I need. The switches went in tonight, the one on the far left is for the Hella driving lights (also still to be installed). I didn't have the panel pictured above, plus I wanted to keep that little storage pocket.

Wow, that looks really clean so far! I might just be doing this project myself sometime soon... I've been informed that my front passenger seat isn't comfortable. >_<

it's spray-painted silver, it was like that when I got it. I'll get full interior shots once I put that panel back in.

(if you're wondering what that giant thing is, it's the "remote" for my stereo, I always thought it was stupid until I tried to press the buttons on the head unit with winter gloves on...)

Wow! Nice switch job. I really want some heated seats in my LGTLi, I am surprised they didn't come with the car already. I get complaints from girls that the seat is too cold (the ones with skirts anyways :D ).

d1giPhux posted a FSM, and I know that the wiring diagram is in there.
