I was interested in everyones opinion on supercharging an EJ22. I know that most would say to either save my money to swap, or spend it on suspension. Well most of the suspension is done.......

What would you sudjest.......I was thinking the following:
-Centrafugal Supercharger.
-Either Air-to-Water, or Air-to-Air Intercooler.
-Fuel managment.

On fuel managment I was a little weak. I don't know if a S-AFC2 could handle the SC, or if I would need something more agressive (full standalone like a Hydra, or something like a Megasquirt, I just don't really know).

Currently, I have a custom WAI, and custom cat-back 2.25" on a '99 Wagon L with the single prot head. Headers are on the list as well. That is not including the suspension stuff. I know that I would be running between 5 and 12psi max.

Also, I know that I have seen a post about a guy that is running a BC with a Eaton supercharger from a Mercades. He has a rather interesting mounting issue. I was looking to place the centrafugal supersharger where the AC is. Thanks for the help!

A guy is running a roots type blower on a H4 engine? Custom intake manifold I'm guessing.... right?

Yeah, he did a good write-up over at NASIOC. I just seemed a little too home grown if you know what I mean. Did a custom intake, but stock manifold. Very Cool. Link below......

Also, I have a California Spec. EJ22.......not cool. Thanks again.

just found this searching trying to find that BC legacy that was SC'd. Here's a thread I found though:

mmmm....well, I'll tell you my thoughts.

You have the phaseII EJ22...higher compression which makes for more N/A performance, but won't let you boost it much at all. Also, the engine that Douglas uses are the earlier EJ22s which have forged internals (open deck though) except for the pistons, which makes them a bit more resilient. I believe this changed for the 1997 revision on the PhaseI EJ22. You won't be able to run what he is running for boost, that's for sure. He's also blown up many motors getting it right.

Really, unless you want to blow a lot of money, if you want to Supercharge, I'd look at getting a turbo block.

OK, it sounds like I should stay N/A. Now that you mention it I think that I remember somewhere hearing that the Phase II EJ22 had 10:1 Comp. and 4.11 gearing.

That being said, what would you sudjest about the header situation. I know that Borla has a header for the Phase II single port, but in searching I found two things. First, the Borla site says MSRP of about 700.00! Granted I have not had a chance to search the internet to find a better deal, I just thought that was a little high. Second, I was reading a post here where a guy was having trouble with fitting the O2 sensor. The header did have a bung, but it was too small for the O2 sensor (Potential EGT).

Last, would there be any benefit from a S-AFC II with:
-WAI
-Borla Single Port Header
-2.25" cat-back
-Free-flow muffler

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I have the '99 Legacy Wagon L (BK43) with the California Spec engine. I found that people have been saying that the ECM on the '99 and after had an adaptive logic system. Would that be found on the newer style cars (BE/BH) or would that apply to me? The car has a manufacture date of March 1998.

Thanks again for all the help!

Adaptive logic? You mean that it learns driving style and such to create fuel maps? That's much older than '99.

Yea, thats been around a long time. If you're looking to supercharge, you should get a turbo block (doesnt really matter which one) and go from there. I don't have much experience with superchargers beyond what mark has already said.

Go over to nasioc and look for the screen name reddevil. He had his old wagon supercharged and probably help you out.

cobb makes one saw it on a Tribeca on legacyGT.com and a SVX, but with out new internals it cant stand the power unless your runnin a on daily driver car. but I have looked into it and it's alot more than runnin a turbo set up, jus my $0.02 cents

well then that tricky, I cant figure if it would work, there's not much differnece on 99' to 00' engines I think the stock intake unit

Except that he has an EJ22 and you have an EJ25 ;)
