My friend told me to go to a junk yard, get another stock header and port it myself by using a dremel. What do you guys think? is this umm...do-able?

You'd need some interesting dremel skills to port the header, it's not really worth it because of the way the exhaust flow is merged?

Ive seen people do this in intake manifolds. Seems interesting

Porting a stock unit yeilds the best gains when the stocker is a cast manifold or shorty header. Because of the design of our front pipe you won't be able to do much work with a dremel.

interesting concept, but don't really think it would be worth the effort. The OE design is pretty restrictive...

never heard of anyone porting a header.

are you referring to the intake manifold like zappie said?

or do you mean the exhaust ports on the heads?

my friend is studying to be a mechanic. Hes rebuilding AE86 from scratch internals to suspension setup to everything. That's how much of a knowledge he has and hes the one who told me about this. He said the stock headers are restrictive i know. but he suggested porting out headers but i was just curious if thats a possibility.

Possible? Sure.
Worth it? No.

It's about merge collection.

yep, that's why the TWE headers are amazing for gains...their entire design is based around merge collection.

I'm 1/2 done porting my headers. I got the idea from a few different people who all know ALOT more about subaru's than I do

its sapposed to be the best for running boost due to the fact the borla headers have MUCH bigger runners and sloow spoolup down alot.

I'm gona gasket match the headers on both ends... then paint it black then WRAP the crap out of it !

I say go for it.... its CHEAP !
