Well gettin the dash off was easy as pie and so was installing the wires for the cd player (head unit, HU) I ordered a dash kit for 88-99 subaru's and i get it and it says 95-99 legacy. I own a 1993 legacy and havnt been able to find a dash kit. Will the dash kit for a 95 work in a 93 or did they change the whole dash around in those two years? If it will not work can anyone point me in the direction on a '93 legacy dash kit or any ideas? I dont currently have the car as i will be geting to tomarrow to find out if it fits, but i am douting this whole situation. Please help!

The wiring harness should be the same.
If the HU is single din, you shouldn't need anything else besides the harness.

it is single din, but the original am/fm radio was double din, therefore i will need a dash kit aswell. I have the cd player hooked up and running and will post pics if i cannot figure something out, but is there a difference in the dash of a '95 and a '93? still havnet gotten my car back from my brother yet. PLEASE help

I already have the wiring harness hooked up and actually a '95 harness is a single fit piece and a '93 is a double piece. Thanks for trying though buddy!

Okay, wasn't sure...all post 95 cars are the same though.
As for your dash question, no, the dashes are not the same. However, if you have a double din setup, you shouldn't need a whole dash kit. Just pick up a single DIN pocket for CDs and mount it above or below the single DIN HU. It should work fine.

When i installed my deck for my 94 legacy, i ran into the same problem...
here's what i did.
I bought some sheet metal and used the metal brackets that were holding the old deck into it.
What i did was attach the deck to the metal brackets bend the bottom of it in a L, and then use the sheet metal as a support for the whole thing.
Now, this leaves you with a huge hole in your dash which, isnt hot.
How do you fix this?
Well, there's two ways...
What i did was go and buy a black plastic tool box and dremeled what i needed out of the plastic and bought some rivits, took the sheet metal, and bent it some more so now it kinda looked like this
Car dash:
o|------------Deck-----------|o
|-----------Deck------------|

so with the rivits and plastic in place, i just popped em in. Looks okay, nothing amazing, but looks fine.
The other way thing you can do is use cloth, but i found it to look cheesy.
Thats my input, hope it helped.
Oh! and be careful, if your deck has a motorized open.. you may need to shave your plastic molding at the top... which proves to be harder than it looks..

Until you can find a single (or double din) pocket to fill your gap, just remove your pocket with the door and install you stock radio there in the interim. That way when you remove your faceplate and pull out the cupholder, you get a little anti-theft device. Someone glancing will just see the stock HU. That is what I did in my 92 with my first HU.

With Faceplate off, and cupholder out.
Another idea. I liked it for it's "stealth" properties. :)
