I'm wondering if the 96-99 Legacy's have filters for cabin air? I've never seen one, and I know I've never changed one! But I get a funny smell in the car when it's sitting at idle and it's not an exhaust smell. It smells like it's actually some of the rust treatment spray I've had put on it.

If there isn't a filter, then where does the cabin draw it's fresh air from? I may as well start there to see if there's anything around the entrance!

I had the same problem, I got Febreeze Anti-Bacterial and sprayed it in the vents underneath the windshield.

No, I don't think you can slap a filter in there for cabin air. I looked into that some time ago.

Anyways, the fresh air is drawn from the vents by the windshield wipers...
