Exhaust Legacy Wagon Muffler (SPT) 2000-2004?

Does anyone know if this makes a difference in sound. im looking for something louder than what is stock.

Definitely. It's not nearly as restrictive.

SPT's are generally very quiet. They have a very nice sound to them, but in volume are close to stock. My friend has one on her 2.5RS and it is much quieter than even an intake/snorkusectomy sounds.

You should be looking for something that flows better. Remember: sound is a by-product of power. Power is not a by-product of sound.

In my opinion, the stock one is sterile sounding. The SPT muffler I've got has a nice lower tone...and it's neighbor friendly. The SPT sounds really good after it gets hot. The nice thing is that it doesn't have that irritating drone on the highway that many aftermarket mufflers create with our boxer engines. If you want even better sounding, slightly louder than an SPT, still neighbor friendly, not ricer sounding, and no highway drone then you may want to consider a Stromung setup:

I agree- I like my SPT on the Leg. I had one on my WRX and loved it, so I got one for the Leg too - doesn't sound as nice as the WRX did, but duh as it was a different muffler and different car. I find that it does drone a little while cruising at low RPM's but not much. When it is warmed up at higher RPM's it will turn heads. Plus it is reasonably priced and a direct bolt on.

I was looking to go SPT, but the price is what drove me away. Not to mention that the place I was buying it from listed it as $200, then told me I needed to pay $340 becuase of a listing error. I bought a MY05 WRX muffler and it sounds alright though abit quiet. It does done at low RPM when moving, but is quiet at idle except when cold. I hope headers and a high flow will help get me some better flow/sound. Not to mention other mods taking place in the engine bay :razz:

You'd need to change the hangers for this to work though. Might be an option. From all the pictures I've seen, it looks like BE/BH's don't have as drastic of a bend right before the muffler, like the muffler sits lower. I can't confirm this, but it'd be one thing to check before going for the BD muffler, otherwise, that's an awesome price.
