I know what is available for the SOHC 2.5 liter NA engines, but I never looked into what was available for the 2.5 liter DOHC motors. So, what is available for an EJ25D? I miss the growl from my EJ252, and I want to know what the 251 sounds like without all of the darn silencers!

SOHC, DOHC...it doesn't really make any difference. The difference from your 2000 to your 98 is that you're working with a MAF instead of a MAP sensor and the airbox is in a different location.

There's quite a few things available, if you consider the fact that the Impreza is the same as the Legacy engine-wise.

I fabbed up a short ram for my BE, and it was easy because the vaccume hoses all came into the main airbox. now, the vaccume hoses are all in odd spots, so if I'm gonna fab my own intake... I'd rather get something professionally made, anyway. :(

I'd like to find a used COBB or something. I just don't want to have to mess around with the vaccume lines...

Like I said, check out the Impreza stuff. AEM, Injen, Cobb, etc

I've been looking through all of my bookmarks, I can't seem to find anything. o.O

I found a Subie tuning shop nearby, I'm gonna go on a trip and visit them after my next paycheck.

ebay intake. Check the DIY. Doesn't get simpler than that short ram. I would check with the seller whether or not it has the bung for the IAB though. Mine didn't and works great. Mark's did and the car stalled on him...? Of course if you're just going for sound, rip out the snorkus and call it a day.

Hey now, don't be feedin' the man bad advice ;)

The one with the proper size bung did not stall on me.

But Sarra's doesn't have the 3/4" idle air bypass line either.

Actually, Sarra, I have an ebay intake that would work for you. I'd be willing to let it go for 20 shipped. It was the one that Dan was thinking of that stalled on me (because of the different idle air bypass design).

Wow, that's better than the Bomb Effects intake I was looking at getting for $30 shipped. I'll let you know Monday if I can do it, I have to make sure some stuff gets paid off first.

I got $20 in my pocket now, so sure, I'll buy it from you. :D

And, back at you.

Eventually this car is going to have a 2.0l WRX motor in it, or at least something that makes the stock hoodscoop functional. :p

I managed to get a cobb intake for a MAP car that I bought off of a BE guy on here to fit on my 98. It was tight with the MAF, but I suppose if you shortened the main pipe an inch or so, it would help. Truthfully, you can't beat the Ebay intake for a shortram though. Price matched with decent gains...you can't beat it.

I wanted a cobb for my BE, but I wasn't going to spend $300 on a piece of bent tubing. ;) $20 is okay though.
