95 2.2 AWD parts hard to find???

is this true?? its a 4 door automatic and i heard they are hard to find parts for????
are the parts expensive???

Not particularly..... the 2.2 motor came in several models, including imprezas. That automatic is essentially the same as any other auto tranny subaru makes, theyre all the 4eat.

the only aftermarket ill get is the intake and K&N filter...this is more of a "back and forth to work" car.....im just wondering if the driveline parts and usual under the hood parts (alt. timing belt ETC.) are decent prices?

Stock Subaru stuff is generally high quality.

I would not reccomend the K&N filter.

it'll be a drop in, not a cone filter.

Because they really aren't all that good. No panel filter is going to make any difference really. The air filter only makes up about 2% of the restriction in the intake. The rest is in the filterbox design, the MAF, and the snorkus.

Also uneven or overoiling can ruin the MAF.

It's not the fact that it allows for more flow (which isn't even all that much), it's when you take it out of the box it has a coating of oil (or when you clean it and re-apply oil) on it to aid the collection of dust and what-not. That extra oil that the filter didn't absorb can minutly get sucked off and residue can build up on the MAF sensor, ruining it.

It not like it's 100% guaranteed to kill it, but there is a chance.

i remeber seeing a product specifically for cleaning the MAF. i wonder if cleaning would be best also for the sake of a "tune up"?

I run a K&N, and while my mileage was great a while back (29-31mpg) about a year ago, its down to 20-23 no matter how I drive it. The K&N doesn't ever seem to completely wash out, and I have sucked oil off of it before (it went in purple and came out white). I would say grab a high quality paper or cotton filter.

parts are not hard to find at all, for stock replacement. JUST be careful--some parts places have incorrect info for the '95 legacy brakes(read-NAPA). If they ask you what year, tell 'em 94, they'll fit. the aftermarket for our cars is pretty weak though. Good thing subarus are like legos and you can mix and match parts from other models.

95 legacy = 90-94 legacy = 93-01 impreza, more or less.


MAF damage aside, a K&N doesn't filter as well as an already inconsequencially restrictive paper element. l'll take cheaper better filtering paper over psychic hp any day.
