hello again. does anyone know about a short shifter bar called the cop bar..?

I think thats how its called, this subaru expert guy from mamaroneck told me about it. Said all you do is take this thing and drop it in the place of the original shifter (bar), then you just attach the shifter knob and such.

If anyone knows of this...and where i can search it, please let me know, cuz i can not find it naywhere.... thanks

Its usually referred to as a short throw shifter. They replace pieces of the shift linkage to make the throw between gears shorter. Theyre everywhere, but i seem to recall you have a 95' model. They are kind of in a grey area, you might want to pm wisconmark to see what eventually worked for him. Or just wait for him to chime in. He will soon.

Oh, and just as a side note, I don't like short throw shifters, especially in my subaru. I find it doesnt really make a difference in how fast I shift, and its more annoying for me having the shifter really short, so theres no benefit.

well no....i have a 06 model, and the only reason i sort of need the shorter one ( cuz I have a short throw shifter installed right now, its just that my friend is hooking me up with an even shorter one) is because when i go down to school i hit a lot of heavy and stupid traffic....

u no, basically having to up shift... down shift constantly........i dont care about shifting faster at all. its just the traffics gettin to me

a longer throw shifter is smoother, why would you want a short throw for traffic?

it sounds like a 'cop bar' is just a shift lever with the top of it cut off. You can just hacksaw the top inch of the shift lever to accomplish the same thing. I wouldn't bother though, the throw of the stock shift lever matches the wind-down of the engine pretty well.

really, short throws don't speed up your shifts anyway, since the engine still decellerates at the same speed.

i dont know, i think that more of a personal opinion though. cuz since i installed the first short throw shifter my life and stress with shifting in traffic has gotten easier. Personally I could care less about shifting faster, becasue I already know how to keep the engine in a steady pace without jumping.

i mean it all depends on what u think really. Alls i no is that the short shifter i have now is fun, and better, and the one my friend is getting me is supposed to be adjustable or something... he owns a subaru expert shop in mamaroneck....they hold some of the only records in the world for subaru.
