all right...installed a Mr. Josh lightened crank pulley last weekend.

installation was fun. pretty easy. kept beer to myself, left friends at their respective homes.

tore ass around town trying to get some results.

results are: can't tell a difference.

i'm not sure if this was a worthwhile mod or not. sure looks good in my engine bay (red intake, red pulley), but, without noticeable gains, i'm not too fond of changing out engine components.

i sure as hell am not going to go through the time to remove it...l can't imagine it will do any harm.

besides...crank pulley is moving pretty f'ing fast just when you turn on the engine, doesn't take much energy to increase it's speed.....momentums already it's friend.

any thoughts?

Hm. That's wierd. Do you rev match down shift and such? I've heard shifting is where its most notably different with 5 speeds. Also it's supposed to pull a little harder in 1st and 2nd gear. Sorry to hear it didn't result as expected.

3 or 4 SL-i member's jumped on the mr josh deal, I wonder what the others have noticed.

I have a GFB pulley on mine. Noticed very little difference if at all.
I'm just happy it's lighter, because unsprung weight reduction is still weight reduction.

i'm currently running Mr. josh's pulley for about 30k now. when i installed it, very little differnce. a slight faster full on 1st and 2nd then BLAH on 3rd. This pulley also helps me alot to b/c of my primitve racing lightened flywheel (14.5). I rev match often and the rev's drop way faster w/ a lightened fly. So I think it's a good deal in the future if you plan on doing a flywheel swap.

Choung, have you ever thrown any codes with the lightened pulley/flywheel combo? I've heard people advising against, and you're the first one that has admitted he's running that setup...

i HAVN'T thrown any codes so far with the lightened flywheel/crank combo. the only CEL that was on was misfire in cylinder 1&3 which got deleted and never came on after new plugs.

-as of admitting that auspex is using this set-up, i don't know if he is using this set up.

Im Still waiting to get mine installed. Going to get it done when I get a major tuneup done. My car has a 4EAT and I've heard it helps them out alot

I have a Perrin light weight. Didnt notice and gains really. The revs are faster up and down. I have a 4EAT but if I put it in 2nd and bring it to 3000-3500 rpms it pulls pretty hard. Damn I need a tranny swap...
