View Full Version : Now heres my stupid question

I won't sit here and pretend I know everything about the Legacy. I know nothing about the first gen Legacy. I'm looking at a 90 Legacy 5 spd for 1300 (I plan on trying to talk him down)
Now for my question, what parts from my BD will fit? I'm not sure if it's even worth getting a first gen. But the price is good for now.

all I know is that most anythign that will fit on a GC8 will fit on a 1st gen. If you get a first gen, part out the BD, and we'll motor/dash swap that. A dash swapped 1st gen would be uber sexy. Think auto climate control.

You might wanna keep looking around. I think there is some guy up here selling a 1st gen 94 Legacy SS turbo (I think its the SS model?) for like $2200 or something.. maybe less now because he hasnt sold it. Its an automatic.. but you might be able to find some good deal like that on some forums, or craigslist or something. Good luck though with whatever you buy! Have a good christmas today too man!

I looked on eBay, Craigslist and autotrader and thats all I found in my area. I'll take a SS auto no problem. I need to stay in the 2k range.

I might be driving out that way this morning, I will try to stop by the place where the guy has it and see how it looks. I actually drove the car while it was sitting in the auction parking lot, and it seemed to drive / shift through gears fine. The interior if i remember looked like it could use some cleaning, but it was a nice car overall. Its a black 94 SS. I will see if i can find it / take some pics today if possible.

Yea that would be great. I would love a black SS. I wonder if I could swap the interiors of the BC and BD.

you can, well the seats at least.

The seats will go, yes. Not much else though.
You can swap all of your audio stuff if you like.
What did you have for performance parts? Exhaust would probably go on with small modification.

everything bolts up to the bc from the bd. Dash- who knows, but the width is the same.
BD is built off the BC, just different look.

Got some pics of the car for you. The car is very dirty, but the paint on it looked good. Only cosmetic thing i saw was the front right bumper could use replacement. The interior looks like its in GREAT condition, but i was not able to get pics because of the reflections off the windows. Either way.. here it is:

Looks like an SS (but I dont know 1st gens much) I'll take the 4EAT in a SS.

Yeah, that's a stock SS. Hood & wheels give it away.

Nice, I'm going to see if I can check it out and hopefully bring it home. Where can I find stock info on these bad boys. I tried Legacy Central, but that site bores me for some reason.

160bhp
180 lb/ft of tq
5MT with a hydraulic clutch and a 3.9FD ratio
4EAT with a 3.54 FD ratio (I think)
Forged internals, and a closed deck block. No forged pistons, IIRC
No intercooler
VF-11 turbo (tiny).
Runs a very small amount of boost stock. I'm thinking 8 psi.
OBDI of course, so emissions aren't much of a problem.
That's all off the top of my head. Subyluvr and Scottzg should have more info for you.
I may not be 100% right on the tranny FD ratios.

Let me clear this up before someone jumps down my throat. They have tons of info there, I just have a very short attention span lol

BC.. is that how they refer to the 94 Legacy as? Sent you a PM reason.
When i drove this car in the auction parking lot, it was pretty sweet. And for what the guy is asking for it.. it doesnt seem like a bad deal.
The body defects that i noticed were :
front right fender dented a bit
antenna was broken (big deal)
I dont think i noticed any rust or anything else with the car really, but i kinda of looked at it really quick. I pm'ed you, and can prolly get you more details once i get back from my trip in a few days!
I heard that these black 94SS were actually rare in the states.. as they didnt make too many black ones. Can anyone confirm this?

BJ was the 90-94 wagon. BF was the raised roof version, only found in some of the odd trimlines in 1994 (like the Alpine Sport and the GT).

Ah thats funny and interesting. Legacy central uses BC/BF if bf its just a few raised roofs and 04 why didnt they use BJ? are they ashamed of their chassis code? lol

Because Japan's wagons are mostly raised roof, and it's the same thing with BD/BG. The number of BKs are far higher than BGs, but people still call them BGs.
