Ive seen lots of people posting clips of there beloved boxer making knocking or ticking noises so I figured I would too. Just to have confirmation from all the subaru experts on the site that its the same one and i dont have bearing knock. so here it is and dont mind the red tuck tape holding the windshield resevoir, i'll fix it eventually

Oh yes, I have the same sound coming from the same place.
You're not alone on this one
Seriously, i have no clue. It just happened to my car when the temperature drop.

well mine has been doing it since i bought it. That was partially the reason i got the car fairly cheap (it only had 152000km for $5000) no one wanted to buy it because the of the noise.

No, I wouldn't think it's bearing noises. Much more likely to be a number of other things.

Its one constant knock coming from one place. How can it be a number of things?

You don't have hydraulic lifters.
Unless you have a 96GT???

Are there such thing as 96GTs? I've not seen any

Yes, they're rare though. You have solid lifters. I guess they could be making noise if they're out of alignment.
But get that headgasket fixed first, that's a much more immediate problem.

No worries with that engine, sounds the same as mine. I just did a real good inspection tonight while I was changing sparkplugs. Damn, what a PITA.
