i woke up this morning for work, went out to my car & it wouldnt start. thought maybe it was the battery, so i switched it w/ fairly new one i had sitting around. still wouldnt start. had to call my boss who was sleeping and get him to open the shop up. almost gave up on it when a guy that lives in my apt. complex walkd out and tried helping me, he said it was the starter. so i got my longboard skateboard and skated about 2 miles to the nearest auto parts store to get a new starter (- $125 from my pocket, which was going to be spent on a nice set of 18" bbs's w/ tires this afternoon). after i replaced the starter, i still had problems starting the car. at first it wouldnt turn over or anything, just heard a noise from what sounded like the relay. after a few attempts i was able to get the car to start but i had to press on the gas a certain amount when turning the key. as soon as i shut the car off, same problem. the car starts, but it shouldnt take all this to start it, never does.

any of you guys have any idea what it could be? i have to wait 2 hours before i can take it to the nearest mechanic to run a load test on it so hopefully they'll know what it is. but i really cant afford to be paying for repairs right now. im about to be laid off in a few days and have to make rent/bills/insurance/etc.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

you may want to check your fuel filter, might just be clogged. Also, look at your plugs.

First - are you sure the battery you installed held a charge?

Could be your alternator...could be a bad spark etc.

And slightly OT, I can't believe you were planning to spend the $125 for the starter, on a set of BBS wheels when you knew you were about to be laid off!

the bbs's were only 100 beans for the set, and the guy's giving me a bunch of dj equipment for free (close to $2000 worth, if not more) b/c he just wants it out of his house, i cant pass it up. stupid i know. but its the deal of the century lol

the battery's fine, i hope its not the alternator, and sparkplugs i really dont want to deal w/ but i'd rather it be that than the alternator. dont think its the fuel pump (fuel injector cleaner would help keep that good right? or am i just a retard)

When it starts, does it splutter into life, and do you have to give it gas to prevent it from stalling out?

ya, i guess u could say that it did that. i went inside b/c i had to wait the 2 hrs for the mechanics to get off their lunch break so i could take it in for a load test, & when i started it up to get there, it started up like it was a brand new car. i guess it needed sum time to adjust or sumthing? no clue, but everythings good now. thanks for the help guys

might as well erase this thread b/c its prolly useless to anyone on here...
