Hello everyone,

My gf and I recently each purchased a Subie: Mine is a '01 BH Brighton w/83000 km and her's a '00 OB LTD w/81000 km. We both love our cars, but I have to admit that after a ride in the OB Ltd, I was really jealous of all the bells and whistles in the OB.

I've not done any mods to the cars yet, other than replacing the radio/cassette deck in my Brighton w/a Clarion CD deck and added a pair of 6 1/2" Kenwood 1650S in the rear door panels. (Couldn't believe it only had 2 speakers in the whole car!!!)

I came across this forum from a link in the Toronto Subaru Club and I thought this is the perfect place for me to learn about our new cars. (And I've came across a few ideas on this forum for my car, except my gf is not being very supportive about me dumping more money into my car...)

Cheers,

James

It's going to take some time to get her to join the darkside

Yea right, just like there where about 10 active PA people on here. Now I see 1 or 2 of them here and there.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

This is the first (and second) Subie in the household and I do have to say that I quite enjoy them and not really missing driving my mom's '97 4Runner that I had borrowed while looking for a car.

I have learned plenty from this forum as it is and hope that I will be able to make myself useful/helpful here as time goes by.

I thought they discontinued the Brighton for 2001 and instead its just an L.

Anyway, welcome to the site!

That's what I've read online as well, but my Leggy doesn't have a tach, and I thought only the Brighton were sold w/o a tach, right?

Does anyone know how to decode the VIN to check for model year, or does the VIN only contains production year?
