Just wanted to say hello, I've been trolling the boards for a while and finally got registered. I am currently driving an '02 Civic Si, but prior to that drove an '02 WRX and before that a '95 Legacy LS. After a year away from Subaru I am coming back with plans to get a BD and swap in some WRX parts (EJ20, tranny, etc). The forums here have been the most helpful in comparison to NASIOC and LegacyGT. Any suggestions would be great and any advice as which vendors out there carry aftermarket stuff for the BD would be appreciated! Of course, I will always search first! I have to say I did test drive an '07 Legacy GT yesterday and ... damn was it tight!

Thanks for the welcome!

I loved the body style of my LS, and I think it's the best of the Legacy designs. I haven't bought the car yet. I am looking at either a white '97 GT or black '98. The '97 has a lot of miles 200k but a new paint job for $3500 + $800 shipping, the '98 has to get a new paint job and they are asking $5000 (local). I'm thinking the better value is the '97 since I will be swapping out the major components anyways. What do you guys think? :notworthy:

Id say the 97 is a good deal.. see if you can talk them down even more because of the high mileage. I also like buying cars with high mileage, because it means they have made it through most of the potential problems they might have.. like headgasket and stuff. But then again, its really about checking out the car and getting as much info as you can about it. Make sure to get a carfax.. if you dont want to buy one.. search for 'free carfax' on google, and find a forum where they are doing a promotion or something.. thats how i always do it.. ive NEVER paid for a carfax.

Keep looking for a car though man, you might want to hold out till you find something you REALLY like. I paid $5k for my car, its a 1999 Subaru Legacy GT Limited.. i looked for 3 months and finally found the color / interior / car i wanted, and was VERY pleased!

Good luck man!
