Anyone done anything cool with their antenna? I hate the look of my crappy stock coat-hanger antenna, it's all bent up and fugly. I like to listen to a radio show in the morning, but since it looks so hack I push it down before I drive again in the afternoon. But this morning I went to pull it back up and it was frozen, so I got pwnt.
My bro has an antenna from an S200 on his camry, looks pretty hot. Don't think it will fit on the leggy though. I've seen those ultra cheap universal ones on ebay, I assume their junk, but maybe not.
Watcha got?

The one in my mom's 2002 civic works really well. But it's integrated into the back window glass
I was kinda thinking about integrating one into the roof rack on top of the car in that fashion.

yeah, all the newer leggys have them integrated into the rear window.. When I had my BD I was thinking about shaving it and relocating it under the A pillar trim... Who knows what the reception would be like, but I was going to try it.

I had an antenna on my last LGT that looked like this :

And I REALLY liked it. When i got my new LGT, i wondered how i could put one on / where i could get one for the subaru.. but im not really sure, since i didnt put the last one on my car. They are very good looking, and dont need to go up and down. I prefer that its rubber coated too!

The short stubby antenna's work well on the wagons - they're almost masked by the rear pillar.
Edit. Only if you have an antenna that is in the rear section.
If you have a front A-pillar antenna, you can remove the antenna, and run the wire across the front of the windscreen, and have the hole bondo-d and painted.
This is what I have:

Isnt that JUST for Xm radio though, or does it pick up normal frequencies as well? I want to get one of those 'universal antennas' like the one i posted the picture of.. i REALLY liked mine.. it looked great on my car, and they seem cheap. I'm just not sure how to install it in the stock hole.. i think i would have to drill 3 holes or something.

I have my stock radio antenna but I put a switch on the radio to power it up or down when I wanted to. So if you wanted to listen to the radio you would flip the switch and it would go up and once your done flip the switch again and it goes back into hiding
nothing special but this way its not always up when the stereo is on

Stock stereo in my car does this when radio is selected. If I press play on the CD player, the stereo switches to CD mode, and the aerial retracts.

^ Do you have any pics of the stubby antenna?

unfortunately not.
it essentially looks like a tapered rubber stick with a small bulb at the end. about 12" long, universal fit.

Did it look like the one i posted a pic of? I really like the way those ones look, with the metal ball at the bottom, and the rubber stick above it.

similar, except there wasn't a plate at the base.

But did it still have the little ball on the bottom, and the same looking antenna? I had one on my other car.. i dont remember it having the plate though. It was just some cheap looking antenna, but it looked really good with the body lines of the car, and just the fact that it was a 'stinger' looking antenna was cool. =]

Hmmmm, I'm kinda interested in doing the stubby one...I think it would look nice on my wagon, near the back, and centered.
What would installation be like though?

remove power antenna, and exterior trim, leaving exterior screw piece, screw in stubby aerial. Should be cake for you.

Well, I was thinking of remounting it somewhere else. I'm assuming it means a hell of a lot of work.
f it.
Oh, and I don't have a power antenna. Just the manual A Pillar antenna.
