Put Full 2.25" Cat-back /w Borla Header and a Weapon R Secret Weapon Shortram on my car. Right now my gas milage isnt the greatest and I read in another thread that if you reset your ECU it will Learn the new Air/Fuel shiat. Seeing as my car has alot more flow to it now would it help to let my car relearn?

Im guessing reseting the ECU is the same on a 98 as it is on a 96 so Unplugging the battery for an hour and pressing the brakes should still work?

* I wonder what a 09 Legacy will look like...

when i put my seceret weapon intake on i noticed my gas was doing bad but i also had planned to reset the ecu. i was more or less testing my own theory and yes my gas milage went back up. so i am sure it should work for you. it may not be as good as stock set up though.

I would suggest air/fuel management like the Apexi S-AFC2 or S-AFC NEO. Tune it yourself, or get it dyno tuned (which I would do).

If you do mods, it's always a good idea to reset. It reloads a base map and allows the ECU to get used to how everything is working (including your driving style).

You heard it from my main man. Also I would get that air/fuel controller before any other mods.

Hmm. So how exactly is the ECU reset? Disconnecting the battery (both terminals?)

One terminal will suffice. Both would be unnecessary as you've already broken the circuit. Leave it off for half an hour or so (a safe amount of time, I don't know exactly how long it takes to clear) and pump the brake pedals a few times while it's disconnected.

I've been wondering this.. what does pumping the break pedals do? Make it realize that the circuit has been broken or something? I installed my intake today and reset the ECU.. 15 mins without the neg term worked for me. =]

Make sure all the juice "power" is out of the system.

The brake lights will turn on no matter what (unless there's absolutely no power in the system) so they're a good little failsafe sorta thing...

Car runs much better now. Got power back that should have been there back wasnt due to using old air/fual maps. It might just be in my head but i think my 4EAT doesnt shift as much as a retard anymore, now that it knows how I like to drive.

Its too bad I cant boot around more often, I always get airlocked it I do boot around too much. Have to get my head gaskets done soon.
