Just saw my friend Christina last night while hanging at my friend's house. Woopdee doo right? Well, she just picked up new wheels for her 2001 RS2.5, and says she needs to sell her stock 16's. She said they are the 16" 6 spoke wheels with a set of snow tires. She wanted $450 for them, but she said they're mine for $300. I'll have to check load ratings and such to make sure the tires are good for my car, but man, I love those wheels!

As long as they check out (she says there's a bit of curbage on one of them), I'll have a new set of wheels within the next week or two.

The wheels are silver. They are this style:

2001 was the last year of this body style impreza I believe, so they didn't have the golds yet. Depending on scratches and stuff, I may repaint them with the duplicolor wheel coat since I had good results on my truck wheels. Then it'd be a matter of deciding which color... aluminum, gun metal grey, or bronze.

Golds are actually '98 only IIRC. I was just asking cuz i wanted to be a whore and post something

Good to know.

Be careful painting them.. sometimes it comes out ghetto.

My painted truck wheels:

I didn't prep enough around the fake bolt heads. Otherwise impeccable.

Those RS wheels will suit you fine, GGT has a set for his snow tires, he could verify this statement.

Right on Ryan. They are used for my winter rims. Got a pristine set for $400 shipped from Utah off of NASIOC. They came from a WRX out there.

I actually got the idea from a friend in the South who has them on his BG for full time use. And he's big on handling which means he's tossing the car through the corners, throwing the weight around on those puppies.....nothing askew yet.

They even fit the Subaru 4pots under them. They are also known as Ver6 JDM WRX rims....the last of the GC6 series.

$300 is a good price even with a bit of curbage. Why? Well, the wheels are versatile for upgrading brakes. WRX rims....eh, they're different on Legacys but get you nowhere.

Yeah, I was just having a heck of time finding a nice looking 16" wheel. One that isn't too loud. I think these wheels will look real good on my wagon. Just nice and plain, but still upgraded. Most people won't know, but subie guys will. So if subie guys know and thieves don't, I'm happy

I'll use my current wheels/tires until winter rolls around, throw these on, then swap my currents back on, basically until I wear both sets of tires out. No need to buy new rubber early.

whoa whoa whoa...I've been told multiple times that only the 1998 era 2.5RS golds (also silver...the 5 spoke ones) are the only OEM 16s that fit over the 4-pots. This has been expressed by MANY people on ScoobyMods, NASIOC, and every other subaru forum. Those 6 spoke wheels do not fit the 4-pots from what I've been told.

Alright, here's the deal. Like new snow tires (hancock? hanoover? something H, supposed to be top stuff in snow?)

Test fitted them, and they fit fine. Same over all size and weight as my old tires. Oh and you can see my friend's RS in the background. (this was at her house, I don't get them till my next paycheck on the 5th)

That's right...however, most OEM 16" wheels WILL fit over the Racing Brake setup offered now (Boxer 4 Racing carries the kit with rotors for around $200 more than the Subaru 4-pot kit). My MB Motorsports Weapons (17x7 ET48) are barely clearing the Subaru 4-pot kit on my car right now.

Alright, I picked up the wheels/tires today! Now I am on a quest to find me some lug nuts and locking lugs. Do they actually make black lug nuts??? I don't really want chrome ones, and I think black would look nice.

Just paint some black....I've never seen ones that come like that. You've painted wheels before, right? Can you do that with lugnuts too?

Yeah, but the lugs will scrape alot quicker because of the....... thing.... that loosens lug nuts..... can't think of its name

Careful there tiger. Sucked when Les Schwab cross threaded a lug with an airgun on my BD.

I just use a very large ratchet for the last turn of the lug nut.

Anyway I found a set of gorrilla lug nuts and locking lugs for $20 on summit racing. I figure our wheels have 60* taper, but whats the threading?

Breaker bar = Long ass, non-ratchiting socket holder

Impact socket = used on impact guns but can also be used with ratchets or breaker bars.

DOH!!

I bought my locking lugs, but I am waiting for temperatures to drop below a 100* before I throw the wheels on...
