Are those scratches all over the dash (mainly the glovebox) or just dirt?

And that's just dirt.

Just curious. How much did it cost you for the totaled BE? If the silver 03 I had driven didn't have a sunroof, I would've bought it and wouldn't be messing with this stupid truck right now...rebuilding one might be an option though.

Wiscon_Mark
01-07-2007, 07:10 PM

Okay, I'll be serious now: What's your first step, and have you found part sources for the exterior stuff that's missing?

blackgtbeauty
01-07-2007, 07:16 PM
It was a good find I think.

The car, most parts to fix, control arms, tie rod, and delivery for $3150.

Our first steps are to get the parts out if it, remove the pass. fender, take off a few mouldings, and get the Baja hood on and have that as a guide to pieceing together the front, and start stripping the fron pass. quarter to get ready to weld in the new subframe piece.

So even after buying a welder and painting the car, you'll still be a good deal cheaper than if you bought one used...assuming you know how to do body and frame work. Interesting idea, but I'm not sure that I'd have the guts to try it. Can't wait to see some progress.

blackgtbeauty
01-07-2007, 07:31 PM
Fortunately I don't have to buy any tools at all. All I have to get is materials. My father used to do autobody and still dabbles in it, so this will be a good learning experience. I plan on taking plenty a picture thoughout the process.

And I can't wait to see progress either

The nice thing about doing up a car like this is I can alter things just how I want, for instance the Baja hood and 03-04 bumper cover, I need both anyways, so I might as well upgrade a little. Same with debadging the rear. Not to mention all of this will be painted at once so I'll have the best chance of it all color mathcing very nicely. I have been thinking as to how I might alter the color a little, but I also liek the stock black w/ red pearl.

You should do deep sapphire pearl. It's an excellent color of blue

I vote gunmetal or CGM.

Anyway, I still think the frame looks bent. I'd have the frame checked out by a pro before slapping on a hood and making things try to line up.

Minor, semi-exciting update:

Got the Baja hood today, hell of a deal, $200 Brand new w/ scoop, never been painted.

I got a cheap intake of a fellow Nasioc... fellow :-? . I think I'm going to use a Rust Oleum Hammered black on it, it's just silver now.

I have two more things on the way, one is a new headlight finally, and another i will keep to myself, something you won't see often, at least not over here

Hopefully sunday we'll pull it into the garage and have at it, been somewhat busy, so it hasn't seen much love :-( And I promise more pics to make this a little more interesting!

Later guys,

Rob

Update, Here are the parts that I have (besides the Baja hood, which is in my father's garage):

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g25/integra92red/IMG_2921.jpg

Roger suggested I get the front strut bar, saying it was the best way I could spend my money

JDM tails are on their way thanks to Jkirk, and the paint booth my father and I are making is almost completed, we just need to install the exhaust fan and make a filter panel for the dividing wall. Then I can bring '01 in and start working on it.

Quick update, I have pics, but on other computer :-(

The hoods on and painted underneath, swapped pad...

New bumper beam is on, found no frame damage, hood lined up perfectly, 03-04 cover ready to go on...

Fixed and pulled the front damage, ready to be welded in place, looks like a whole car again  Going to start working on the rear quarter damage this weekend, then prep the car for painting! I can't wait!

I'm going with an Alfa Romeo black, leaving out the stock red metallic, and going with the black Rota P45F's w/ the red stripe, hope to order those next week.

I'm going to start running the power wires for the amp and sub next, I'll take a short movie and more pics tonight, and upload them if i can.

Later SL-i peeps, looking forward to a meet soon!

Just a quick update (sorry, no pics!)

The BE is on the road, and is now my daily driver for the summer till I put her away, I must say I love it, rides beautifully, handle great, ice cold AC, mmmmm.

I do have to say I hate heat shields, almost every one rattles and sounds like a POS.

Anyways, I'll take some pics after the first wax in a while, it's on a regimen of 3M hand glaze in the meantime.

It is slightly damaged, but it'll be work for this winter, i still need to mod the rear bumper for the spats and that should make it well matched w/ the huge-normus GT sideskirts on there now.

As for the hazard, I just wanted somethjing a little different. I don't think most of the people out there will notice the lip or spats or anything either anyways. No shane, it doesn't compare to the headrest springs, but it'll do

I will say with the back debadged and the jdm grille, i surprisingly have a lot of people ask me "What kind of car is that?"

Hah. Oh for sure, I'm not a huge fan of the strut brace, however the older chassis' do need as much help as they can - as the cars get older, the strut brace might help a bit.

I have one on all my cars, but I refuse to spend more than $25 on one.

i'm guessing at least 5 mph.

When the stock 215/45-18 RE92's are finished, i'll replace them with 225/40-18's like I had on my spec.B's.

I only had them on for a hour or so, but from what I drove, the 45's rode quite nice actually.

Sorry you'll have to save the e-punch for another time, it's not the s401 kind, the standard wing just happens to come with the trunk. That way I have an authentic trunk lid with real badging. The GT cannot be rebadged as easily as the L so I figured it would be easier just to swap the trunk lid altogether.

Great work on your car so far!!

i have less than $5k into the car (that's painted and in complete stock form w/ a few things, not include recent activities...).

The windshield cracked this past winter.

The parts listed in the previous post are just getting repainted (which I only pay for materials), the trunk had a little scuff, there was a ding in two of the doors, we had a problem with the paint sticking to the front bumper cover, the only new parts that were painted is the grille and foglight surrounds.

I guess I don't see how I'd save any money buying a non-wrecked one. Maybe if I was going to resell it...

I could have bought an STi, but where's the fun in that? (if you say under the hood I'll punch you in the liver).

Picking up some BBS'ESSSEEEESESSS next week for winter time, actually the same ones I borrowed to get the car home from ECS. I'll just have to source some center caps and I think I'm going to use them as the black wheel testers.

yeah we'll see, that why i'm trying the black out on these instead of the Tarmac's. If I don't like it I'm going to try a dark grey I think.

I originally wanted to put the car up this winter and drive my BD, but that needs work, needs to be registered, etc...

Hahahaha yeah those coors were left over from the halloween party last weekend.

I actually did the wheels here (he's working on something now), i brought them in the house to keep them warm and scuffed them up. Then I set up two saw horses with two 2x4's accross them with an electric radiator heater directly under the wheel, bring one out at a time as I painted them with smooth black hammerite.

I'll take better pics maybe today.

Might as well do an update

So for the last and final time the sale fell through with the BE, the kid got approved for a few K shy of what I was asking, so it is here to stay. Most of the plans that I had before still remain, and after giving myself a break from racking my brain with ideas some have changed for the better. So here are some of the things I'm tentatively doing, suggestions and idea are welcome.

- I am definitely happy with the outcome of the black BBS's so I am most likely going to get the Tarmac's done in black as well w/ a red STi center cap decal instead of the Rota one.

- I plan on having the Brembo' s powder coated black w/ black reflective brembo decals, and just getting new stock rear ones coated as well.

- Get the STi 5 spd short shifter w/ WC Lathe Werks Copolymer WRX Sphere w/ custom boot.

- Installing my JBL amp and sub, unsure of which aftermarket headunit to with, has to be Double Din, or single Din If I go with Din gauge pod.

- Front and Rear sway bars.

I'll post up more things as I think of them which I'm always doing.

I read all of the pages and didnt see anything about the grille that you have on it. I want one thats not chrome.... which one is that from? where did u get it?

I like the black rims, but honestly I think it is a little too much black-- IMO -- and I think the 18"s are a little big, but then again im a little insane so....

Also, did you just get a respray or what? How much did that end up costing you?

Nice nice, thats the DNX5120 or something close to that? Almost got one of those myself but decided on a 6-disc WRX headunit instead.

Now I wish I had gotten that  How do you like it though? I think the in-dash NAV's look great opposed to ones you'd stick on the windsheild.

And whats your set-up for the sub, amp wise?

blackgtbeauty
03-19-2009, 09:24 PM
JBL 24**D 300w rms and kenwood wtfbbq 300w rms 4ohm amp. The headunit is the ddx512, no nav, but crutchfield has refurb Kenwood so it was 359 shippied with subaru harness. The amp is refurb as well and the have the seperate nav box refurb too. so far i really like it, changing the headunit color and having a volume knob were two must haves and this fit the bill nicely. The hideaway sirius box is on back but that's on the way too. install is a breeze and we ran the wires for my 360 too  .

+1 for Crutchfield BTW, they are fantastic.

I will take pics when the mud and snow are gone and a few more things are complete and I can properly detail the car.

The car is dropped as low as it's going to be unless I ever go with coil-overs which is unlikely.

I had rear brembo's, but sold them because I didn't want to pay the ridiculous price for brackets, pads, and rotors.

I wish I could tint the front windows but it's quite illegal up here it VT. I also wish I didn't have a green license plate either. I do have a real japanese one that I could put on for some better pictures sometime.

I suppose it's fairly obvious what I have done to the car, but for clarity: Removed rear spoiler and E-tune badge from grille, vanity plate, powder coated all calipers, rotors, wheels, license plate frames, and intake, painted the keyhole on trunk lid, and new Falken's for the 18's. I'll take pics of the stereo and intake sometime.

We'll see, either I'm done with the car or I'm going all out with it. I have to think about it. I like that it's a sleeper, but it's a slow one and I would like to see it boosted. Time will tell.
