ok, i booked in my car for a service today.

1st 1000KM service (we use the metric system in australia)

told them that i'll be bringing in my own oil.

they tell me NOT TO USE MOTUL.

apprently, the boxxers n motul don't work well together.

castrol, mobil1 and something else works well. shell is 50/50

any1 had any similliar experience?

Unless there are reasons why the new engines are Motul intolerant (and I would ask them why boxer engines are apparently adverse to a TRUE synthetic, ester-based oil), then Motul in the right grade is fine.

I would still not change from dino for another 2000km though, just to give the engine more time to seat itself.

After that, any semi-synth like Castrol Syntec blend will do well as a compromise between cost and benefits.

10-4 huffer.

throw in any DINO oil for another 2000km.

and you can start to drive it more aggressively now. in fact, i think you can safely take it to redline, just take it there slowly.

Yeah, keep to regular oils for the first couple changes.

Honestly, I wouldn't let the dealship get their paws on my oil change

theyre full of shit. jesus, i hate dealerships.

motul is awesome in subies.

the rally team i work with has used it since they started years ago without ever having a problem. lots of other teams use it also, not just rally but road course also...

i use amsoil, its every bit as good (tests prove it), but easier on the wallet.

tell them to pound sand, and fill the fucking pan with your oil.

FYI, mobile1 is the shittiest synthetic on the market, and if youre a fool enough to buy the extended life blends, say goodbye to the life of your engine... those detergents mess shit up!

You shouldn't put a car on synth right away anyways.

You know what, there maybe some truth to that on the mobil1 synth blends; when I tried it for a couple of oil changes I kept loosing oil every 2 weeks according to the dipstick. Now I'm running motorcraft semisynth (insert lols here  ) and it hasn't dropped in level since the oil change.
