I have looked around online a good amount and can't seem to find what speakers fit. I have a 99 Legacy GT sedan. Someone is selling Pioneer 4'' fronts and Kenwood 6 1/2 x 9 rears.

While Kenwood isn't my brand of choice... my stock stuff sucks and is on it's way out.

Will these fit?

4" is too small. 6.25" or 6.5" is better.

6x9s are crap for sound - ever see a live act using oval speakers?

Not sure it they were changed at all along the way.. but both of my Legacy's (95 & 02) have had 6.5" rounds for the front and rear... You could probly mod the rear deck to fit the 6x9's but it would require some cutting and drilling.

Crutchfield is dead wrong about my 95 Outback

Ah, that craps on those plans...

I'm not a fan of Kenwood normally but the speakers got rave reviews...

Comparing a concert to car audio is a bit ridiculous... spending a ridiculous amount in your car is just dumb.

deff 6.5"s but make sure they are shallow enough so the window doesnt hit them when the windows are down.

I would suggest not using Crutchfield for anything, they know nothing about the Legacy and they screwed over my friend and his tC big time.

Or get spacers.

I just threw those in my car, did a little sound deadening and it sounds great. I can't see the point in spending so much on speakers when its next to impossible to make a car sound that good, its just not a good acoustic space. They definitely get the job done, I just needed something that could handle the power my head unit puts out. Tore the cones right out on the stock speakers.
Peace

I got these Exact one in my doors, no spacers needed, they are clean.

Might cost more than normal 6.5's but to me its worth it.

I never tried them straight from the deck but if you hook them up through a amp like i did i would recommend strictly midrange and highs.

EDIT: Pioneer is the shiznit

I had a $100 bestbuy gift card from Christmas, so I picked up a pair of Infinity Reference 6012i for the front doors today. I'll probably wait to put them in until I have time to hit the doors with some RAAMmat at the same time.

I was just looking at those, $99 at Circuit City. Some of the reviews bothered me a little though. Also don't know if I should buy anything for the car, since I'll only have it until August. :-?

Just got my Infinitys mounted yesterday. I had to make some spacer rings from MDF so they'd clear the window and do some minor trimming on the back side of the door card for clearance, but they're nestled right in there now and sound great!
