basically yes, I took some lumber and made a box mine is 24x18 as its the size of sheets i can buy locally.

its nothing special just a wooden box with holes on top of it, I only spent money on the frame material. It only took an hour to construct. One thing i had to add was windows gasket at the edge of the box so that when you lay frame down its easier to seal. I messed with a couple different thinnesess of acrylic for more intricate stuff like shrouds 1/16 worked the best for me. Oh and one thing to remember make the box as big as your oven if you cant fit the frame inside the oven whole thing is useless. If you want more info i'll try to write a more detailed diy on how to do this.

A DIY would be great - I'm unsure as to how you did this; did you heat the frame and plastic inside the oven, with your headlights already in, and then turn the vacuum on?

Dodik built a wooden frame to hold the 1/16 sheet of acrylic which is removeable from the vacuum table. I would assume he took the frame and put it in the over like this example.

However I've seen many DIY including 5Axis use a standard heatgun/blow drier.

Car went into winter mode, new outback struts and rear baja springs, unfortunately it thinks its a bear and decided to hibernate by eating second tranny. At least it survived the storm flood was only two blocks south of me.

How about this, you make two molds out of the plastic (one for each side ofcourse.
Then you use those as a mold and make a final one out of fiberglass or maybe even carbon fiber?
Fit & finish should be equal and it would not take to long to make since you just put the mats on and saturate them with resin.

i thought about that even kevlar, finding resin that wont distort with heat is not too difficult, just dont have time lately.

Last weekend did a tune up on the car, plugs, pcv, replaced bunch of coolant lines that looked way too old to be trustworthy. Only to find out i need a new balljoint and my fuel pump gasket is all dried up and slowly leaking when tank is full. So that will have to be addressed next week. Other than that haven't done anything to the car at all, almost feel like taking my bike to the meet. Although I should be able to finally finish the lights this time around they will be even more custom lol.

I need to get set up for vacuum forming. It would be nice to able to form clear lenses for the the USDM and JDM 1 piece BD/BG/BK lights...

decided to finish up the retrofitted lights, bought shrouds as molding etc just takes too much of my time, I think of pulling most of the stuff from the car that i can sell separately and just listing it on craigslist.
