Would '04 WRX rear brakes fit right onto my 98 Legacy GT?
If not... What elese would I need?
Would it be considered an upgrade as well?
Help me out... They are for sale right now.

Thanks,

Chris

Yes, if you have 16"+ rims and you get the full WRX brake assembly.

If you have a GT they're the same as what you have now, 10.3" solid discs with single piston calipers.

In the WRX line you would need to go to an 06+ WRX rear to get anything larger (11.3" vented twin piston).

The cheap upgrade is to an 02+ Outback H6 rear brake setup, which is an 11.3" solid rotor, single piston.

There are a plethora of options going up the line from there, based on what you can find and your budget.

You can find all the specs of various potential donors at http://www.cars101.com/

Thanks for the info.

What parts would I need for a WRX brake conversion for a BD GT?

As I said, a WRX conversion only make sense for the front, the pre '06 rears are identical.

For the WRX front conversion you will need the calipers, pads & rotors.

For the Outback H6 rear conversion you will need the same; calipers, pads & rotors.

I'd recommend upgrading to stainless steel brake lines at the same time, but you can reuse your existing lines if you're trying to cut costs.

You'll need to modify the rear dust shields to fit, or remove them altogether. Mine were rusted so I elected to remove them.

Don't forget the caliper mounting brackets.
