Hello everyone, I just had my 97 gt in the shop, they replaced the valve cover gaskets and cam plug. Car was leaking big time  . Now the car idles much better????. So is this 2.5 need to be sealed, sort of like a e30 bmw to run better. I was thinking the covers might be letting air in and messing up the mixture.
Oh took the car up the Columbia River Gorge at Christmas. Lots of ice, man am I glad I had ice/snow tires on, and that I have a subaru.

the valve covers would do no such thing, and cam plug? wtf is that?

The Subaru engineers like to tune the cams one last time (after they've assembled the engine) so put a little plug in there so they can do so without taking the engine back apart. After a really cold spell (-10 to -20*F) the cam plug on this car got blown out and leaked oil like mad. My dad didn't drive it, it was taken in and the dealership was kind enough to take care of it like a recall item even though it wasn't under warranty.
