I Did A Burn Out In A LEGACY!!!!!

Don't bury me for this, but it seems as thought the general consensus is that you cannot do a burnout in a subaru without ripping up a diff. i believed this until last Sunday when i was torque breaking it to prove the point, and the wheels lit up :twisted: . not for long however. Just for safety, i checked the diff afterwards and it was in full function.

finally i got some respect from all my friends with their Diesel pickups!!!

On dry pavement? My tires can chirp when starting from a right turn onto a street or on magchlorided/wet roads if I romp on it.... But dry pavement? I'm surprised the car didn't bog like crazy or burn up your clutch?

I've gotten mine to burn on dry pavement before.. im not sure how. It was in my other 99 LGT.. but it actually burned quite nicely.. once again.. i have no clue how i did it. I was just driving one day and it did it and i was like 'wow.. i dont think ive ever done that before' .. thats why i remember it. LOL freak accident.

it has to do with air moisture + also temp of the road... and also the traction of the tire :wink: Warmer road + humid air makes it easier... and obviously weak tred.

Yea, i think when i did a burn out.. it was weak tread. that was on my other BD when the tires were all worn out.. haha, i didnt even think of that! DOH!

Well its an auto :cry: , and it had rained earlyer in the day.. but i was suprised.. u no.. the 2.2 is not exactly a peppy engine.. haha.. it was on a straight road.. w/ torque breaking

but it needed to be done, because it seems as though everyone was too protective of their old subaru's.. i was not really worried because this thing is 13 years old at this point. might as well have some fun right! hahahaha

It has nothing to do with it being old...I wouldn't do that to any Subaru. Drivetrain parts are expensive.

Sorry to disappoint, but likely all you did was get spin from one open front wheel…

In a 95’ you have an older automatic with the clutch-disc style center differential (non-torque biased) and an open front differential (and open-rear too for that matter). When you torque-braked the tranny then let the power loose, likely you simply slipped the center diff (leaving both rear tires virtually still) and spun one of the front wheels due to the open front diff…

Congratulations though… Nice one-wheel burn out!

I can verify xcntrk's statement on the open diff's of the 95 4EAT... The AWD system was much better than FWD or RWD, but couldn't stand up to the AWD system of my BE. On the BD you could have the right side tires in a snow bank and spining like mad and barely be moving for a bit before the car would finally get some grip. Of course, you could ease on the throttle and have less of a problem :twisted:

My only gripe on the BE AWD system is the rear wheels engage quite hard at times and make a nasty banging noise. When they engage though, both spin...

I know its not really on topic, but neither are 98% of the other posts :wink:

Your BE has a rear LSD, the AWD system is the same.
