Please...oh...Please Subaru bring the Forester STi to the US Domestic Market! I am completely prepared to buy one of these sweet models if/when they ever make it over here. Frankly I don’t understand what the delay is seeing as how it’s already a production vehicle for JDM & EU markets and has been for the past 3 years. One would think the odds of this making it over here are more realistic then say the Legacy STi which doesn’t even really exist yet (right?). Maybe SOA is testing the domestic market with the “Forester XT – Sports” model new for 07’. It has some of the same body styling as the STi model but is clearly anything but (just an XT with bolt-ons). No STi power plant, no 6-speed tranny and accompanying drivetrain components, etc..

Anyway, I’m closely watching for when/if they announce US availability. I’ll be down at my local dealer with a deposit that same day!

Urban Grey Metallic is my favorite of the two:

Actually the Forester has had STi trim since it's release in Japan, way back when. There's a couple of them rolling around NZ. ;)

Her and that other dude are pretty good though. Nothing compared to Clarkson and the Hamster, but they're a lot better than anything on Speed channel :smt019

I'll post pics later of the Forester Sports Concept (looks like a lightly disguised STi) that I saw at the NAIAS.

is it possible to talk to a subaru dealership and get them to ship one upon request?
the price will probably be more like getting the s204 :-(

is it possible to talk to a subaru dealership and get them to ship one upon request? Well I think the issue here is they’re not manufactured in a LHD model (yet) nor certified for use in the US market.

In all actuality, being RHD has nothign to do with a car being certified for street use in the USA. It's all about crash testing, which is really lame since its the same car, however the USA requires you to crash test every trim model you will be offering, regardless of how much is shared between them. You might need to slap some US parts on it to make it legal, but in all actuality, this is a perfect candidate for a vin swap ;)

I didn't say that. Swapping vins is illegal!

Right. What about all of those RHD Legacy wagons the USPS used?

Right. What about all of those RHD Legacy wagons the USPS used?

They were made for the US and appropriately crash tested.

It wasn't a grey market thing.

Well, that (and the new Legacy) was tuned by Subaru Technica International, but some argue that it's not actually an all out LSTi

If it was tuned by STI, it's an STi.

I don't disagree. Just saying that some do ;)

I still couldn't....Its still a Forester. Although looks nice, not something I'd drive.

That's like saying "It's still an Impreza"

What the heck is wrong with a forester? It's just an impreza with a different body and suspension.

Well I for one wouldn’t consider buying an “Impreza” model specifically. The Forester although based on the Impreza chassis, has a totally different look IMHO. This would be my Daily-Driver not my project car. In-fact, I’d likely sell the LGT-T if I got one :(

I would consider one, once I'd been in the workforce for a few years. I know my girlfriend is a forrester lover, and I know she WANTS IT. Maybe the faster forrester instead of a rock?
