you and striker should take drive and have a look.

you both might be surprised at how much more of the state there is outside of "the city" cos you know, there's only ONE city that matters. I've been fortunate enough to have driven the length and breath of the state, and am glad for the diversity.

BTW, i have a friend who lives in NYC. maybe you know him.

heh, I always used to go out to the catskills with my familia, and I would tell friends I was going to new york and they'd always ask me what such a huge city was like (I've never been to NYC)

New York City traffic laws are a little different from New York State's. For example in nyc you can't turn on red at all in any direction, In NYS you can. Another one is , in NYC, with just a permit you can't drive at all without a licenced instructor in the car. In New York state you can drive with a permit if there is a licenced driver with you and during certain times of the day.

indeed the laws are stricter, most likely to deal with the denisity.

don't you still have pataki as governor just like i do? i guess i just don't understand what is the point you're trying to make.

Right, my only point is that nyc people consider ourselves like our own state because only people living in the 5 boroughs can relate to the same situations (laws/crime/traffic) that happens here every day. Its a pride thing, not a misconception that there aren't any other towns in the state (and I'v been all over the state).

Practically all the NYC natives grew up with a lot more street smarts than any other place that I know. And... with the terrible traffic... this is what makes the majority of us drive better. As for the crime... everyone has to make money somehow.(There are a lot of immigrants)

It doesn't really matter anyways... I want to set up a time where ALL us "NEW YORKERS" can meet up some time.

Stay proud Silentracer.

gil_ong81, Don't take offense to our pride. We all represent New York in our own ways. Just represent Rochester and make New York proud.

Im gonnah try to setup a little subie meet within 2 months time. Mean while... Let me know if there's anything going on in the Tri-State.

i see where all this pride is coming from now; either way, you folks are babes in the woods. try growing in in indonesia and bangkok in addition to singapore.

all in all, it's pretty pressumptious to think that you have more street smarts and are a better driver simply because you live in a big city.

i have no love for rochester, i'm simply stuck here for various reasons. it's a little shit town holding on a jaded past with crappy weather, and i'll readily admit to it.

LoL...

I'm chinese myself. So I have a decent idea what my family has gone through in their country back in the days. They did not raise me any different from how they were raised.

I would say that we are all babies in the world. When people from Indonesia, Bangkok, and Singapore come here even they themselves are babies in the woods. So my whole point here is... vice versa.

What is funny about that is most New Yorkers think RI is part of NY.

I thought RI was part of NYC. :D

Then again, Hawaiian's think of the US as "the mainland" - even though it take 4 hours on a plane to get there.

Thats the same time between Australia and NZ.

Yeah driving in NYC and NYS is totally different, I had to live for almost two years in north Westchester and travel to brooklyn almost everyday, that was fun. People outsdie of NYC like have nowhere to go especially on weekends, they never rush and like to block all three lanes and move with the same speed usually 5mph lower than the speed limit. And still Im happy im not in jersey.

What part of Upstate NY have you been to? 5mph under the speed limit? I've never seen that, except for your occasional slowpoke.

Im not saying everyone does it but i've seen a lot of stupidy in Westchester County, it's whether they don't know how to drive or they think they do which is even more dangerous. I've seen people drive like maniacs in westchester more than in NYC. The best example would be everytime it snows and you get like 2-3 inches of snow everybody stays in one lane and goes like 45-55 and everyday I saw at least 3 Huinday's or civics like 1993-1996 fly at 70. I mean How stupid do you have to be to fly 70 in 3" of snow with lite FWD car especially huinday's if you crash those things vin# and lisence plate are going to be your identifiers.

Oh and I almost forgot what this thread is about. Welcome to the forum Striker there is a lot of usefull info here. Im new myself.

Those two lines don't belong in the same sentence. If yout talking about a wrx motor, it will get pricey and is prone to alot more problems.....unless you somehow have the tools and knowledge to do it yourself.
