I was just curious if anyone knew what type of wood that (terrible) stuff is supposed to be inside GT's, specifically2000 BE models (if it's different between years/Models). It's probably just something Subaru made up that doesn't resemble any thing...but just seeing if any one knows.

Yes, Captain Obvious, it's plastic. What he's asking is what wood is the plastic wood grain in the cars supposed to look like. I don't know if it's different through the years or not, but on Subaru.com, for the 07 GT Limited sedan, they mention "Chestnut woodgrain patterened" accents.

i painted mine, anyone have a pic? if it has dark circles and whirls it's burlwood (i don't think they'd model it after birds-eye maple  )

I was thinking burlwood too, but something just seems different (probably the fact that there's sparkles in it?!?!) I havent been able to find anything that mentions what they were going for in terms of type.

In case any one is wondering I was asking because I'm going to make a nice shift knob for my Wood working class (industrial design class) Kind of modeled after the wood JDM BE knob but with a few nice details  Thanks for everyone's help, I'll just get a few samples and see what matches the closest.

My 95 has 3 random wood grain trim bezels, I could never understand why the shifter area, and the passenger and driver side window controls were the only places they put them.
