I was changing my oil, and being a genius, left the little yellow plastic oil filler cap on my battery.

It never got put back on.

The dealership didn't have any in stock, it was going to cost me an extra $2 to overnight one in... I asked if the parts guy had anything that woudl fit, but was designed for another car. He said "well, we do have an SPT billet aluminum cap... It's the only one we have..."

So, now I have a gunmetal aluminum oil filler cap. I feel so pimp. At least my car doesn't smell like fresh oil ever time I stop for a minute...

should I go all out and find matching replacement caps for all of the other cheap yellow plastic caps under the hood? :p

Rice? Not close, oil caps that say JDM is rice. I personally don't think SPT is rice at all. If so I got you beat, I have the SPT oil cap and battery tie down.

Dude, the 710 cap is way cooler.

The 710 cap is super rare though. If you can find one on ebay or a local listing snatch it up quickly.

O_O OMG, I'm so tired i actually missed the main point of my thread!

While I was dinking around looking for the original fill cap, I noticed my rear diff is leaking. Should I be worried about my rear LSD? It leaked for a few days, then stopped, and then leaked a tiny bit again, then stopped again. Any ideas what is going on? I have pics to upload in the near future, pics of the diff. Oil seems to be coming out the seals around the center where the case comes together, and possibly the drain hole on the bottom. :(

You don't have a rear LSD.

Probably just a bad diff case seal... not really that hard to fix. Just don't drive it around dry. That's what happened with my impreza before I swapped it, and the rear diff sounded like a blender with coins in it after about 100 miles.

Hah, no, I won't drive it dry.

When it warms up a little, I'll clean it off and see if it's just the seal leaking or if something else is going on.
