I know of only one guy that uses it...he drives a 600+hp fully restored Charger that runs in the mid 10's.
It's good stuff, but it's a little too overkill for me and my lil' subaru.

My brother runs it in his celica GT and says he loves it... once again, a bit pricey for me as well.

I think it has a weird name. Sounds more like an illicit drug.

My last 2 oil changes on my GT I used royal purple and Lucus oil treatment. I may try something else but I really liked the Royal purple and the locus vs the Mobil one I used to use.

Paying for the Royal Purple name is unnecessary IMO. I just go with Castrol Syntech or Mobil 1 full synthetic oils...places like Wal*Mart run sales on the 6 pack 1 quart bottles, and the 5 quart containers periodically, so if you buy synthetic, go for the sales and you can get it almost as cheap as regular dino oils.

I run castrol GTX high mileage. Its not that expensive, and its dino oil. Royal purple is good for horsepower increases on high end motors, and is some good stuff; however, it's pricey and hard to find.
Hotrod magazine did a story on a chevelle and they switched all the lubricants and fluids they could to a royal purple equivalent and gained like 17crank horsepower.

^^ I won't touch the in-store brands...I'll only use the branded, multi-national names. There's a sense of security in ISO 9000 certification.

Yeah, look for ones with that SAE logo (the silver star on the front of the container).

Purple crap ha thats funny. Anyway its approved by SAE. Don't know something till you try it or anything. Use someones opinion for just that. A lot of people say something and they have no more experiance than you.

Going to be switching over to Mobile 1 synthetic to see if I get any seal leaks. If not, then I'm going to switch over to it for hte long run, see if I like it better than the stuff I'm currently using.
Royal Purple is amazing stuff, from what I've heard. I would agree with it being Overkill though. :p I've also heard of people having trouble with Royal Purple tranny fluids in their Subies, but again, no experience with it myself.

I was a longtime Mobil1 user, and recently switched over to Royal Purple in both the Impreza and the Legacy.
Overall I'm happy, it seems like the valvetrain noise is reduced and the engines are both running silky-smooth.

stopped using mobile 1 5000/7500 semi-synth. I was loosing about half a quart every 2-3 weeks; from the soot on my exhaust tip, I'm guessing it was being burned. Switched to Motorcraft Semi-synth last oil change. Oil level has been rock steady for the past 2 months with 1 rallycross tossed in there to the mix.
