make sure you do it in a wide open place.. and make sure there are no objects around! You've never gone snow drifting? Its not that hard man.. just be careful!

just take it easy till u get used to the car. and remember odds are good your brakes arnt going to help much if your flying at something, so learn to be creative with your steering and throttle control.

1. Don't do it in snow over 1 foot - you'll muck up a lot of places with snow, and you'll have a lot of it trapped in your rims (which leads to a rough ride on the way home).
2. Turn into the skid, give gas. Never freak out and hit the brakes. Give yourself plenty of space too.
3. Start out slow, get yourself used to skids before you actually start drfiting.
4. If you have an automatic, lock it in D2 so you get some power to the rear wheels, otherwise you won't get much drifting action.
5. Don't linger in areas where the owner of the parking lot would have a problem with it - cops can nab you if they're called about it.
6. Enjoy!

2. Turn into the skid, give gas. Never freak out and hit the brakes.
Give it gas if you want to sustain the skid and slowly come out of it while changing the direction of motion of your car. If you really want to get pointed back the way you were heading, back off the throttle and steer the way you want to go. Sometimes correcting the car towards the direction of its momentum is not a good idea, and a longer power slide would be beneficial.
My biggest advice, do it in a parking lot you know. Nothing sucks more than finding a curb/pothole you didn't know about. Curbs can disappear from view in snow. And yes, if you have a bumpy ride at 40mph + its probably snow built up in the wheels. Stop and get it out, or if you still have stock wheels, you could probably brake hard (thus heating up your brakes and your wheels) which would melt the snow off.

Don't use your ebrake. If you do, only small blips. A bit of weight transfer and a lot of throttle will get you sliding.
I let a friend try and he just wouldn't let go of the ebrake  Damn FWD drivers

Oh, yeah, ebrake is a bad idea - you can fry your center diff if you overuse it.
And it's not necessary with a 50/50 power split.

...worked for a bit.
Not very long though. Trust me, I've tried strapping mine down too
Okay, so the outside clip of me drifting through the Wal*Mart (old Walmart I should say, it's completely abandoned) parking lot wouldn't come out for the life of me (video was all blurry). The heatshield rattle is horrid, but the exhaust tone is good otherwise. So I scraped together what I could to give you an idea of sound, and I did get a little bit of sliding in ;)
It's low quality...I could've done the orginal quality...2.43 GB
Enjoy:

yea e-brake = clutch in.... but personaly, the ebrake doesnt do much more than mashing the gas.
Wiscon_Mark
02-01-2007, 11:44 PM
Clutch in doesn't help the center diff any...

Just had some decent snow the other nite here to drift in, hopefully get a lot more this weekend, got to find a really nice lot though to do some serious drifting in, was just doing figure 8's the other nite around two light posts at low speed, was really fun though. Freaked all my friends out because they've never seen that before apparently.
Peace,

go in straight line.
turn wheel
Mash gas
????
Profit!
Seriously. just do that a couple of times and see what works and what doesn't to get your powerslide where and how fast you want it to.
Oh yeah, you can practice 180 handbrake turns too

But what did he see or not see?
markv

he didn't see his shadow.....if he doesn't see his shadow he comes out and it means that spring is gonna come 6 weeks earlier......
and if he sees his shadow he gets scared and goes back in the hole, and then we have 6 more weeks of winter.....

Having a rear sway bar really helps drifting.. especially the 22mm I got!!
We got snow and it's amazing, sometimes a little scary when I'm driving normally and don't want the back end to whip around but I can do a 180 just by turning the wheels and pressing the gas, its great!
