Ok, so has anyone had a problem with their rearview mirror basically falling down and pretty much showing you the shifter when driving? I have to constantly reposition mine when I drive. Has this happened to you? If so how did you fix it?

thanks vicki

My wife's isn't quite that bad, but doesn't hold position well either. I don't know that there is a good fix, other than replacing it.

Yeah mine did this too, I'm not sure if the 98's are the same way, but mine isn't connected to the windshield. It kind of comes out right above the windshield and there is a bracket there with an allen wrench screw to pivot the mirror. I tightened the screw, and problem solved.

Mine falls when I'm going over a lot of bumps (vibrations). Don't really care, I just deal with it.

Try mixing some water with elemer's white glue (the stuff kids use in elementary school), and squirt it into the ball joint.

Should tighten it up a little bit.

This was always happening to me, I purchased the right size torx bit and tightened the screw that holds the mirror with the ball joint as much as I could, as slow as possible. You do not want to strip this screw..

Mine was so loose, I ended up tightening it a full turn. Now even with my bass, the mirror vibrates but has never repositioned itself.

Really it is only 1 screw to tighten to fix this.

I tighten it, It loosens up, Its a continuous battle. I only drive it occasionly so I have just given up. It doesn't seem to bother my wife. So I just leave well enough alone.

Ah, I see.

Thats the same reason my wife has an ABS light on in her car and the rear sprayer doesn't work. If she can live with it, I can live with it.

Next time you try it, use a dab of threadlocker and it should not loosen up again.
