Fuel Filter Replacement

So how should I go about doing this? Run the car close to empty and do it, or is there an easier way? I'm doubting its ever been replaced, so I'm guessing its a good idea to do this.

No point running your car to empty, there will still be gas in the lines. Open the gas cap and let the car sit for a few minutes. You will spill gas but won't be much. You could also put vise grips in the lines too. It takes about 5-10 minutes.

I just did it in the morning after the car had sat overnight. I would open the cap and then stuff a bunch of paper towels under the lines because you will lose some. Make sure you have some good nipple covers to cap off the lines for the filter because it'll be full of fuel.

all you do is remove the gas cap, and make sure the key isnt in the ignition...

then put a few rags around it, and take it of/ replace it with new...

It takes all of 10 min even if you dont know the difference between a screwdriver and a hammer...

You can also disconnect the fuel pump and then start the car. I'll turn a couple times and choke. This will push a lot of the remaining gas through the system. If you don't purge the fuel this way be ready to catch the fuel with a can as a lot of it comes out from the lines when you disconnect it. A few paper towels aren't going to cut it.

Just did mine yesterday, 20 minute job. Hardest part is getting the hoses off. With a bit of prying and tugging they come off. You'll lose a little bit of fuel, but not much and not anything worth worrying over. I put a rag underneath the filter before i got to work on the hoses, it pretty much got it all.
