You guys act like subaru makes the best cars in the world.. i personally dont really like the way any of the new subarus look, and probably would not buy a new one. The WRX is probably the only thing going for them till they muck that up too. I think its really just personal opinion.. you know how many people i hear saying that subaru makes god awful ugly cars... lots. Any lots of people drive them around here too. I think toyota is number one for a reason, their cars are cheap, they dont break as much as subaru's do, are not as expensive to get worked on, and they keep pushing the technology. Not to mention, its a lot easier to find someone to work on a toyota then it is to find someone to work on a subaru.. and who doesnt charge $100 a friggin hour. Subaru just re-hashes their cars over and over and puts a new face on them.. and they dont get very good gas mileage.. and they dont even look very good (unless modded). Although i havent seen a good toyota car i would buy in a while.. maybe they will stop sucking and come up with something a little better looking.

tey prob even down size the engines of the cars to get "better milage"...if u see the toyota adds the boast about more than 1/2 their lines have he best car milage...thats because 1/2 their lines hardly pass 1500cc

I wouldn't exactly call Subaru's interiors exciting either...

The avalon has 270hp, 250tq, more than a LGT. Actually almost their entire line is above 1.5L (except fort he prius and Yaris). Their next smallest engine is 1.8L and thats in their small cars (which weigh around 2600lb). The rest are 2.4L and above I believe

The Legnum VR4's aren't all that. They're bigger, heavier and costlier than a Legacy GTB. I've driven them, they're about as exciting as a minivan (and not an Odyssey Modulo either).

Now, the Toyota Caldina (boosted version) is actually a pretty nice sports wagon.

4cyl Toyotas made recently have either a
1ZZ-FE- 1.8L (think base corolla, matrix, Pontiac Vibe, etc)
or
2ZZ-GE 1.8L (Type S corolla, Elise,etc...)

those motors have been around for YEARS and Years,, just as the Scooby engines have been.

Toyota has to be doing something right to have the BEST SELLING car of all time (Camery) along with thier motors being used by Lotus, GM and others.

Toyota used to have the Supra (please bring that back, and talk to mazda and make me a new FD...) so maybe they wouldnt F#(K up subaru's performance that bad.

i could see them using subaru as kinda a franchise (think Scion)

Look at it this way, if i could have gotten the car i wanted i could have gotten a P1 back when i bought this legacy, i bought this car only because it is hard to get insurance on a vast majority of cars here, if its turbo charged i cant get insurance, if its manual i cant get insurance, if it has a 2.0l or higher in tiptronic i cant get insurance.

What i am driving now is a 2.0l DOHC Non turbo WAGON!!!
my insurance premium is (KYD)$1,980 which is equivalent to $2357 USD

Did i mention it was third party or as it is known as in the states , as liability insurance.

Funny thing, the car itself only cost me USD$1250.00

I would think 5MT drivers would probably be better drivers overall because they're more likely to be paying attention to the road, not to mention that a 5MT is cheaper to replace, although an insurance company is unlikely to replace a transmission as they'd probably total a car that had a damaged tranny from an accident.

Those are some high rates, as well...guess they don't drive too nicely in the Cayman islands, huh?

I really wonder how much more it costs to make something AWD as opposed to just FWD.. because i know toyota does have some AWD vehicles, like the matrix, and some others maybe too? .. and they still arent as expensive as suby's.

Toyota cheaps out on a lot of things - the AWD system isn't nearly as good as Subaru's - it's nearly impossible to find a Toyota on a lower end model with ABS - they don't come with 4 wheel disc brakes.

Only thing i wouldnt mind.. get rid of the friggin ABS. I HATE ABS. That shit almost makes stopping on slippery surfaces WORSE then i could do with normal braking. The rest is pretty much true.. but i dunno how much lower quality toyotas stuff really is.. seeing as how it seems to last longer than most subaru stuff, and if it does break is cheaper to replace. Although yes.. they are totally different markets i suppose. If i was going to buy a car in the toyota price range though.. id just go with honda. They come with ABS + 4 wheel discs in the Si versions, and also are pretty damn high quality.. for a FWD that is! :wink:

LOL yea..well if it worked for that, maybe it would help. It doesnt help doing much of anything except for making my brake peddle wobble around while im trying to frigging stop at a damn stop sign and theres a tiny coat of snow out. Bottom line is.. some people like it, other people dont.. i can drive better without it.. therefore it really becomes more of a distraction while im driving rather than helping do anything. I know how to drive.. i dont need some bullshit abs system to help 'stabilize' anything for me. All it helps to do is annoy the shit out of me, and make me wonder why the hell i havent disabled it yet. :lol:

Well, when you're in a sideways skid and are trying to regain control, you might want to rethink the worth of ABS.

And if you're having problems with a tiny bit of snow, it's time to get better tires - that's NOT your braking system's fault. If you didn't have ABS and that happened, you'd skid and it wouldn't be fun.

The people who don't like ABS (for street use, I can see the value of disabling it for rally cross and track days, etc) are the ones who don't understand its purpose.
