Finally got some more time behind the wheel. I’ve had a small bit of work needed to tweak my new hybrid sti motor setup but it’s been so damn cold I only just now finished and got back on the road. Almost 1k miles on the new motor setup. I’ve been out tuning all day and the results are better then I could have imagined. I’m running very conservative still and the motor already seems to be producing more power then my prior 2.0l turbo motor and it still has a lot of room left to get more aggressive. I would estimate it’s running at about 80% power right now and has to be around the 350whp mark (according to the butt-dyno).

So how’s it fell to drive at this point, well 2nd gear pulls are just nasty. When the boost hits and if the tires maintain traction, it pulls so hard it torque steers and wanders a little within the lane. Other pulls in 2nd and my crappy winter tires would simply break loose and spin on boost onset…

More to come... ;)

Very cool indeed, nice to see it's all coming together for you!

When you get it all sorted out we want videos of:

Dyno run
Speedometer acceleration
Drag strip run
etc

It would be wrong if you didn't. Great job!

Pump gas tune is nearly complete...

It’s so damn fast it literally scares me...

Second gear pops your head back into the headrest; it stuns you if you’re not ready for it...

I ran another built scooby today (who shall remain nameless) which was estimated to be between 350~400whp… The boosted BD prevailed by a couple car lengths each time...

I’ll do a speedo vid in the next few days...

It’s done...

Got about 2k on the motor now. Finished with the pump tune, it’s stable, very responsive, pretty safe AFR, conservative timing, decent boost, and most of all fast as hell! I now have significant traction issues due to the torque. I’m going to have to upgrade to an LSD or torque biasing front diff as every time the boost hits in a corner, the inside wheel break loose. 2nd gear is really bad, 3rd does it too. I put back on my summer tires (Azenis 615s) to see if this was only related to my crap winter tread, but it didn’t help too much. Launching is out of the question now too as it’s constant wheel spin and bouncing off the limiter all the way through first.

I still have to reinstall my alky system which I upgraded, then get started on an alky-tune. Once I’m done with both pump/alky maps. I'll catch a dyno day around my area and see what I get for power numbers.

As for the vid, its coming very soon. It started snowing again here today so as soon as the weather breaks, I'll capture some video (so don’t ban me!)
