View Full Version : Power Steering whine at idle?

My power steering pump whines at idle. If I give the car gas so it revs even 100RPM higher, or if I turn the wheel just a little, the whine will stop. It only happens after the car is hot.

The fluid is just a hair under MAX HOT after driving for an hour.

The belts are tight. (0.5" to 1.0" of deflection)

Its not loud, but it gets ridiculously annoying.

Anyone know of a cure?

Is it your belts or the pump itself??

Im not sure. All I know is I can hear it from the inside of the car. It definitely dosent sound like a belt (which would squeek)

This is more of a hummmmmmmmmm....
