So I ordered some GR2's off of eBay, and in my buying frenzy I didn't check to see if I got the 4WD model shocks. Sure enough I'm a moron and didn't check until now to see if they were the right ones. 2WD all over the place  .

I checked the part numbers and the front strut numbers match up between the 2WD and 4WD model. The rears don't.

I'm wondering what differences can I expect between the 2WD GR2's and the 4WD rears? Or even if they'll fit. I don't see why they wouldn't though.

Well, if only you knew someone here with a white 2WD legacy from PA that you could sell them too and not worry about it... hmmmmm...

Check RS25 for people that have converted their FWD cars to AWD. It should give you a better idea what is changed in the suspension between the two drive systems.

I'm guessing the hub pickup points for the strut maybe different (this being subaru, it may not be the case) and something to do with the shape and length of the strut body.

Can't you return them and swap + money for the right parts?

Try bringing them to a partsamerica and see if they will exchange them without a receipt? I know they carry the GR2s for the AWD, I don't know about FWD.

I wonder if they'd do that.

Is there any definative information about the 2WD not fitting the 4WD?

Sorry, no more money is going in to the Legacy. I wouldn't spend any more money upgrading a 2WD Legacy anyway.

the strut body extends through where the axle comes out of the hub. Won't work, no way.

this might just be the perfect excuse to convert to 2wd! Don't swim with the herd!
