Does anyone know if there would be fitment issues (cross member, etc.) when trying to put an STI drivetrain into a first gen Legacy. Or is this one of those big headache projects with the whole OBDI vs OBDII. If everything is being swapped over, does that really matter?

Just had a new brain storm, and am thinking of a few things...

thanks,

but why throw down the extra few or more grand....

but anyway, the tranny fits, barly... just need a turbo engine crossmember (they r all the same), only thing that may no fit as far as i know is the factory turbo, and exhaust piping, tho there is still a good chance all that will fit too.

It'll all fit. You might even be able to do a dash swap! Either way, just upgrade to OBDII when you do all the wiring, its not that big of a deal in the big picture. They also might make those OBDII-OBDI converter harnesses, I know they do for hondas.

Far as I know it fits just fine. For the most part any Ej series can fit where anyother Ej series engine is.

JDM may be a good option too, more bang for the buck and since you're in a first gen you don't have to worry about emissions.

Just check to be 100% sure. I have a second gen and know it'll fit.

I'm in a 3rd gen right now, but was thinking of getting another 2nd gen, or maybe a 1st gen. Thanks for the info.
