I recently aquired a 1997 Subaru Legacy Outback with the 2.5L.

tonight i got a check engine light and local auto parts store scanned it for a misfire on cyls 1 and 2. im going to be changing the plugs/wires within this next week and was wondering if there was a decently priced upgrade suggested for these parts.. OEM is fine with me but im trying to push a lil more performance/gas mileage out of this car.

any help is appreciated. thanks.

You won't get more gas milage by swapping plugs and wires, other than the standard "new plugs and wires boost". Typically, when plugs or wires are bad, your milage will suck...

Just go for your standard OEM replacements. should be less expensive, and it'll perform the same.

Also for an upgraded coil on your MY car look at the DIY forum post for the MSD coil. I'd defilintly do it if it worked for my car.
