Those pictures of the dash swap.... look at the doors (no door panels + tan door handles) and the black duct tape on the steering wheel. It's my car, no doubt.

What should I do? Should I care?

I would be pissed they didn't ask. You should do something, I just dont know what.

But they do list it as an example of "great work".

if you care, message him and tell him your name. Thank him for the compliment. Just ask for your name to be attached to the pics. If you don't care, do nothing.

I'd just email him and tell him that he should ask for permission to use pictures that belong to you before doing it.

However, it's not like he used a picture of say your springs sitting on the ground to sell his similar looking springs and they aren't even the real ones. That'd be fraudulent to the buyers. Also, it's an interior shot and pretty small at that. Not as big a deal as like sybir's car being used to advertise hise lights/grill with pictures of his whole car.

Meh, I wouldn't mind in this case, but email him anyways.

It's not like he is claiming it is his, or his own work. He just used it as an example. You really can't get anything from him. These are pics floating on the web, if you (you in general) don't want your pics floating around don't post them up.

Thing is, I didn't take those pictures, nor have I ever seen them before. I'm awaiting a response from him regarding where he got them. I don't really care, but if he had the ability to take pictures of the interior of my car, he had the abilities to ask me to use them.

I'm not going to try to get anything out of him, I don't really care that much. Oh well, it just irritated me initially

Are you 100% positive that is your car? I had someone take pics from my cardomain and he tried to use them on his. He was saying it was his car, I told him it wasn't cool and told him what's up. If he had said hey this isn't my car but I want it to sort of look like it or some jazz like that whatever. Maybe that is one of the guys from ECS selling the dash.

I was just kidding about trying to get something from him.. haha. i just think thats the american way and like to crack jokes about it. So.. you didnt even take those pics.. weird. They probably arent of your car then.. prolly just someone with the same car color maybe? What makes it think its yours? haha, do you have a stalker?

It's definitely mine, there's not a shadow of a doubt. It even has the old ass pinetree shaped air freshener. Also, it's a wrx swap with STi seats going in at the same time, as well as was a white L, with aftermarket speakers only on the drivers side (done before I owned the car lol).

I knew you were kidding ;) haha. I'm not going to do anything about it at this point though, except maybe have a chat with Paul at ECS about it. Not a pissed off talk either, just an info gathering chat haha.

EDIT: oh, and the EDFC controller and black hood. It's mine

Well, they're not copyrighted or anything, and of course if you put pictures of something online, soon or later someone is going to use them for something! Photochop, advertisment, and so on... there's really no reason to be upset about it, given he did ask,he did say it was good work! and no harm is done, it's not like he altered the photos (did he)?
That's just my opinion, it's just like you posting a picture of your car, it's just more people are going to see it now, that's all!

That's just me...

the issue all along is that I NEVER POSTED THEM ONLINE, I had never even seen the pics before. they aren't my pictures. I could care less about the actual pictures, I cared more about how he got them. Now I know, so the issue is closed.

Yes they are, copyright is implied (by the photographer) even if they don't put a little (c) in the corner. But of course it's nearly impossible to prove/enforce anything. I know a guy who had pictures of his car, and his modlist, ripped from Cardomain, and the car was "put up for sale" on ebay! and he couldn't even get ebay to remove the listing at first! Took about 3 days for him to convince them to take it down.

Yea, but I didn't take the photos, ECS allowed this guy to. Oh well, the listings over now anyways.

So the story comes out. Wow.. thats pretty stupid of ECS to be doing that.. i mean, how do they know that whoever took the pic isnt just profiling cars to steal. LOL good idea ECS.. bravo! I mean, i guess i cant blame them.. but they should be more safe about their customers cars.

Yea pretty much. I'm not particularly pleased about it, but at least I've spoken to the guy now and he seems legit.
