Need opinions

Well, im about to go off to college and i need more money (suprise suprise). I was thinking about selling my car if I can find someone interested. I would like to know what everyone thinks it is worth. It has changed A LOT (for the better i think) since the first time i posted on SL-i. Before selling I do plan on reinstalling a stock 03 2.5GT Steering wheel and stock grill at buyers request.

The major/most noticable upgrades include Pioneer AVIC-N2 ($1200), fidanza flywheel and upgraded F1 clutch at 125,000 miles ($850), Erebuni racing style carbon fiber hood ($700), WRX seats, Drilled and slotted rotors, WRX front brake upgrade, 17" Riax seca Rims with 205/45/R17 dunlop direzza's ($850), Custom mid pipe with 05 STi muffler, H&R lowering springs, and a ton of other stuff.

The car is very sharp looking in person, especially after a good cleaning. It has 134,xxx miles on it, no major/noticable body damage, oil was changed every 3,000-5,000 miles with full synthetic oil, steady at idle, starts up very easy, no engine trouble, no "little things" missing, and Head Gasket problem that is common on subarus was fixed.

In my book, mods are worth little to nothing to the purchaser. If you are looking for top dollar for your car, you are better off returning it to stock and selling off all of your aftermarket goodies seperately.

I know that if I was looking at a car with 5k in mods, I may up my offer by about 500$ if that puts it into perspective.

Unfortunately.. this is true in 2 aspects. Unless you are selling it to someone who wants a fully modded car, people usually will not want to pay much more for mods. From another perspective, someone into modding may see that you have already taken some of the 'fun' out of modding the car itself. Bringing it back to stock form and selling off the pieces might be your best bet. But i bet someone would offer you.. MAYBE $9.5k for it.. maybe. Thats a pretty high bet.. but its worth a try.

Its sad you have to sell your car man =/ College is a bitch like that, i know.. im in debt myself from all the loans i had to take to do the college thing. Hopefuilly you figure out what is right for you. I mean, i know at some point i will have to sell my car, and i wont get nearly as much as i would want.. and would be lucky to get what i even paid for it =/

Screw College!!!!!!!!! Go to trade school, they are usually 1 yr coarses so your out in the work force faster. Plumbers and Electricians make some good coin. There are so many trades out there these days. Then you can keep your car cuz you don't need as much money PROBLEM SOLVED :lol:

Yea in all honestly.. college is a waste of money. Best way to make money is find something you like.. save up some cash, and start a business. Thats THE only way to really make money. College just delays the time you have till you must join the rest of the workforce. I wish i didn go.. but i guess the experience was worth it?

go with tile. tile is a good trade. work under someone for a year or two get the hang of things and start your own buisness.

Totally depends on what you do in college, but anyway...


You'd get way more money by selling off your major mods than leaving them on the car. Unless someone is specifically looking for a Legacy then there's little reason to choose yours over another legacy for sale. Also, you car has been modded to your personal tastes, and not everyone has the same tastes.

Are you planning on buying a smaller car or something?

Buying and selling modified cars is a duck shoot in the middle of winter.

Sometimes it works out, but usually the mods don't add to the sale price.
At best, you'd be able to get $1000-500 above a stock model with a shade under 100k.

I agree with all above, part out and sell stock or just keep the parts like wheels for a future subaru.

Yea, if you want a corporate bitch job.. like a fucking money handler or something. I have a BS degree btw..it helps so to day.. but not really. Talent will help you more then a piece of paper will. I wish i had rather spent the time learning more about running a business and such, rather then doing college stuff. Although college is a nice experience, and gives you 4 years to figure out WHAT you want to do exactly. But that IS the big questions.. isnt it. Hah.

Yea.. but basically your best idea might be to try to sell it on some of the 'subaru mod' forums.. and if that dont work.. strip it down to stock.. sell the stock car.. and then try to make up the extra money by selling the mod parts.

Things like speech, etc, are useful. Learning how to give presentations in front of people is also useful. Like i said.. it buys you time, and lets you figure out a few things. The market will never decide what i do...

Anyways.. to get back on topic. How much you think you WOULD ask for the car with the mods?

$8500 as it stands is a bargain to the right buyer (enthusiast)
To anyone else, it's a car that has "obviously" been raced and probably be abused or is finicky.

If you can at least go back to stock on the hood and wheels, that would allow you to command a better price to most buyers.

Remember, the typical buyer is not going to be on this site - it's going to be someone looking for a nice, slick car to use to get to and from work, and evening dinners.

If this was auto, my fiance would buy it. Probably.

Step 1: convince your fiance that maneul cars are just more fun to drive. Step 2: Ill convert whatever you don't want to stock. Step 3: adjust price.

yeah your car very nicely modded but unless you find someone willing to pay for all the mods i'd take them off, i actually traded my car in recently and if i didnt take off my stereo speakers, coilovers and rims i'd have just lost all of it.
oh and about school dont listen to any of us do what you need to do. trade school is good if you live in the middle of nowhere and dont need any education to find a good job but in more or less big cities every dog has more education than that. i can tell you this that my "in progress" bachelors degree is valued way more than my military finished trade school, but that NYC though.
