Front clip swaps / newer subie lock/unlock beeper

Has anyone ever seen an attempt to put the new nose of the Imprezas/WRX/STI on the Legacy platform? Just curious, as I like that front end a ton, but I'm sure it would require major mods to the hood and fenders.

Also the door lock/unlock beep is farrrrrr superior to the horn crap mine has, and I wonder if it is as easy as buying that part and wiring it in instead of the horn.

This is all bourne of my week with an 07 Impreza courtesy car. Its definitly nice to be driving something new, but its funny to look around and see some hints of things that havn't changed. The auto tranny is exactly the same as 2002, the housing and everything. Its all just shrouded with fancy plastic.

I'm sure it could be done with enough money, just like the guys who put skyline front ends on civics. However, with the money you'd end up spending to get it all done, buy a used STi. It really wouldn't be worth it.

I'd call your subaru dealer and ask them for the part number for the horn/buzzer for that model year. I don't see any reason you couldn't get it and replace yours with it, as long as the buzzer/horn is a separate unit in both vehicles.

Some things haven't changed, I used the coin holder insert thingys from a 94 impreza L for the holes in my 05wrx center console

If you wanted to put a new Legacy front end on an older one, like putting a BH nose on a BK, it might be possible without an insane fab job, but don't take my word for it. I know you can put a bugeye front end on an 05 WRX...

As for the Honk of the BE/BH, I'm not sure. My BE (2000) honked, my mom's BH (2003) beeps, and I agree with you 100%, the honking is retarded. I gave up on mine, I ended up getting rid of the car partly because I just coudln't stand it anymore. :p If you can't get rid of it, or don't want to for other reasons, then I'd suggest you inquire about a Subaru upgrade, or even go with an aftermarket security system.

You could always have someone fab up aluminum replacements for the fancy plastic... I'd do that if I could afford it. ;)

Or you could have that plastic vacuum formed in carbon fiber ;)
