yeah it's working. It took a while to install the steering wheel. I had to use my old cruise control switch and airbag harness.

Do you have any idea how the cruise control works.. cause mines not working now.. and maybe you could give me some idea as to what direction to look into? There any fuses for it?

I just did this in my '96 Leg! I got a KILLER deal on both the mint wheel and mint knob, however the wheel doesn't have a bag, this is actually just a cover, believe it or not! It looks mint! All this is ok since it's a '96 and wouldn't have worked anyway... As for the cruise, SUPER easy, Once the bag is off, you'll see 2 spring loaded "pads" on each side, these are how the horn operates. What you need to do is simply remove the right WRX one altogether and replace it with your Leg assembly! Then simply plug the horn wire in (uses the same harness) and you're good to go!

perhaps its time you get a CD/MP3 player? I haven't seen a tape adapter in almost a decade.

Haha... Yeah, bout that  I'm actually wiring in an AUX to the changer harness, I've just been too lazy to find a harness and fab it in! I want the OEM look and weather band... In summer I'm rarrrrely inside :) (Hey I do own a Subaru wagon don't I?)

Since I'm about to do this, I had a question: will my airbag in my '03 Leg still work correctly if mated to an '03 or '04 WRX steering wheel?

Thanks. OP - looks great.

Hey bro, It should work flawlessly, They use the same SRS system across the board (given it's the same gen) so it should be more plug and play for you than the rest of us!

Everything worked out for me too. I do have an air bag in there. My friend has a spare on he wants to sell.

Yo.. im stick rockin the tape adapter to mp3 player... works great for me!

You should have done a write up for this swap.. because in the future i may do this as well... what should i expect to pay for a new wheel off a wrx?

Let us know how it works - I want to put an 02 Rex wheel on my '02 Leg, but am not sure if they mate properly (wiring plug and play). Out of all the Subaru steering wheels I like the one out of my '02 bugeye - my Leg wheel is too boring.

Mine should be in the mail this week.

I heard there are some potential issues with the cruise control - but the stalk in the WRX looks identical to the one in my Leg. :?:

Also - I wonder if the center cap can be swapped out for the red/black one from the '04 WRX. Just thinking out loud....

I'd imagine the center caps are swappable, they are simply four prongs folded over, I'll snap a pic. Don't know how easy they'd be to get at with a bag though :/ (I have a dumby center cover.)

I'm pulling my wheel off again since my alignments off and I don't feel like having the Scoob dealership try and tell me I put my "aftermarket" wheel on crooked...
You know what that means... When it goes back on... DIY for everyone!

I'll show the cruse deal too, It's cockeyed if you try and use the WRX bracket. It is all plug and play though!

Scoobymods has a write up on how to do it. Follow it closely, or you could set your airbag off.

Oh man, I am in love - thatr is exactly what I want. Where did you get it, how much did it cost (if you don't mind), and was it a direct fit (any mods required for the harness, and does the airbag and cruise controls still work)?

That is damn nice - excellent buy!

Here you go for all your questions.

Total was $80 for the wheel, $15 for the cruise module (I didn't want to part out my old wheel), and $40 for the leather cover/leather patches.

So overall, it was less than $150 for a totally custom wheel.
