I noticed this a while back, after it would snow.. i would get some snow blowing into the interior of my car. Now its dust.. and its getting onto my nerves a bit. Is there a cabin air filter that you can replace on these cars? If so.. where is it? If not.. what might be causing the air from the outside, to come through the vents in my car? Sounds dumb.. but i just wanted to figure it out.. so the next time i clean the interior, it wont get dirty again!

Cabin airfilter (if fitted) is behind the glove compartment.
You can just use some HVAC mesh as a filter... nothing fancy.

Nice.. is it possible to just take out the filter i have now and clean it? I'm going to check how dirty it is this weekend.. Also, how would i go about using HVAC mesh as a filter.. just cut it to proper spec, or what? Where can you get that stuff.. home depot?

Well, i know that the cabin air system takes air from the vented black area where the windshield wipers are located. Trying to keep crap from getting in there would be a good idea.

I don't think we have a cabin air filter either...I forgot where I read this - it may have been in an email reply from subaruparts.com

I do keep this area clean.. but its un-avoidable to get stuff on there, unless you clean your car everyday. Man, what a badly designed system.. like, what the FUCK were they thinking.

You must drive through some dusty areas man, I rarely have the problems you're describing.

And you need to cut down on the swearing.

I clean my car 2x a week man.. hah, so i know thats not the problem. Some of the roads around here are pretty dusty.. but i guess its a mix of the road salt + sand that was put down on the roads at this point. When it was snowing out.. snow was coming through the stuff.. so obviously there is NO filtration system what-so-ever on these cars.. thats pretty sad. I wonder if there is a way i could pull those vents up and stuck some type of filter under there... because its really not cool getting all this sand and stuff all over my dash and having to clean it more then 2 times a week is becoming a bit of a hassle.
